Time to see how Brooks and AD perform behind a quality set of forwards. If they are do OK I expect the $ will go towards a strike centre and first class 1 while we hold ground waiting for a home grown 7 to emerge.

We need a winning season now with that cash to spend....don't need to win the comp (would be nice) but we have to make strides forward

I agree. I would take him for sure. No worries about having to find a superior half for the next 5 years. Failing that, a premium FB would be great.

So IMO clearly he regressed whether it was from the team's form or his own lack of confidence, from coming back from injury.

Not sure where this notion started but IMO dont think he has regressed in this area at all. They all drop one occasionally and you can bet when teams are dominating us with possession and field position his work rate in diffusing kicks would be higher than most. I believe it is a strong part of his game.

^dont forget Defence for a team that concedes way too many tries.

Daine Laurie is 100% Tigers but will need to move out of Fullback. Not winger because of his height. Center, 5/8 OR bench back cover. I could see him becoming a little like Craig Wing being an ultimate cover position.

Personally...one of my season's highlights was the unique ways we found to lose games....

I say move on from him.
If he wanted it he would've signed either way.
Let the slimey's have him. Say thanks but no thanks, pull the contract and let him fester for less money and years....forks to you

Like I was saying, Wingers need to be able to get the high balls. Laurie is short/under 6", Naden is tall.

Why not leave Naden on the wing and move Laurie into the Centers? I mean the ideal would be to move Laurie into 5/8 and move AD back to the centers. Like you say though Laurie + Naden play well together. Why not Laurie in the Centers?

Why am I the only person who is worried about us signing a super long 5 year contract for a player who is good, but often on/off?

Those 4 year contracts for Reynolds, Mbye and Packer just did our club wonders.
But yes, 5 years for a player older then all 3 when they signed ... for very large money...

Ofcourse we still don't know if we need a halfback or a fullback or to resign players we are trailing out this year.

Keep our warchest closed for a bit. Lets see who needs to get punted and who wants to stay.

My favourite was giving a penalty away while we wait to receive a dropout but touch the ball giving it back to the opposition to then concede a penalty goal to lose the game....
Stupidest rule in league. If the kicking team doesn't kick it ten metres why is the receiving team penalized? It should be the defending team's problem not the attacking....

He was safe as a house under the highball in his first year with us. He definitely lost confidence in it but there’s absolutely no reason he can’t get it back.

6 games at Fullback, 4 games at five eight in Flegg
Got called up mid season to Cup and played 3 games at five eight, 0 games at fullback.
Interestingly he started Flegg at fullback with Staines on the wing but they both played cup that year at various stages that year.
Staines only played cup at fullback and Daine only played cup at five eight.

He is a good player, but also an emotional player. The last thing we need is him here at 1-4 mill for 5 years and not live up to expectation. Already some are labelling him the difference to us making the eight and or not. He is a great front runner but a very different player when the going gets tough and the chips are down. Not a player to be investing that sort of money - to lift a team from the doldrums - for 5 years at the backend of his career.
