Fullback, Brooks, Nofaluma, Right edge D and goalkicking...

Laurie shows fear to compete for a high ball too often to ever be a viable fullback. Give him a run in the halves in KOE.
I thought we went O.K. in general, but some blokes like Brooks, Laurie and Asu pen1s hands wil always let us down.
Today just got us a better price so we can win more.

Yep, massive issue. Didn't look like kicking the important goals.
AD can kick them from in front (as all kickers can) and is actually decent from the sidelines (a big plus)...

But those midrange pot shots he has never been good at. A decent kicker makes them.

I always had a problem with the Titans being our first up game.
We just don't have the speed and energy to be able to handle them and let’s face it they have a pretty handy side that didn’t deserve such a low 2022 place on the ladder.

Also given that this new side has a lot of games to get through before they get to level of understanding of each other under actual playing conditions ….. not too surprised with the result.

Agree that we have a real problem with our fullback position.
Laurie just does not cut it for me there and I can only guess that both Sheens and Benji realise this.

Also agree that our halves did not come out and show us anything that we haven’t seen so many times before. Again coaching staff have tried to address this problem with big money approach for Moses. So I expect that their next target will be again in that area of want.

But it’s an only first year of another major overhaul both in player roster and approach to coaching.

Dare I say that it will take time.…. and for anyone that is impatient and expects immediate success I can only say it ant going to happen for you.

Definitely not wing.

He is a first grader IMO. Won't be a long term fullback, but can definitely be a Jahrome Hughes type half.
I hope you are right Sirro.

Hughes is a workaholic who lives and breathes footy.

Massive footy brain.

I don't see any of those traits in Laurie.

Interesting, those are traits I do see in Laurie. Hopefully I'm right mate, but been wrong plenty of times
What do you see?

I see a bloke whose best games for us were his first few...who has not improved at all in 40 games since. Seems very laid back off the field.

Hughes worked and worked and worked...almost obsession levels... and improved each season...

Why wouldn't we have the energy to match them?

I think I see that in Laurie.
He is working more now than ever. You don't see that?

I look at personality as much a talent. From reports, Laurie is a big personality, loud and confident. That combined with a very good short kicking game, and willingness to be involved constantly suggests he could be Hughes clone.

I will be very happy if you are right mate...

You don't see his work rate?

That's hate clouding judgement. I have no issue if you don't rate him. I can appreciate that opinion. But to say you can't see his effort is painting yourself as a hater who can't be objective.
Never suggested I “hate” the guy (what on Earth is wrong with you?) and had hoped he’ll reach his potential (ie actually improve) based on earlier performances.

He watched a high ball land basically on the try line without contesting it or tackling their attacking players then coughed up a stupid mistake that directly led to another try on the next play tonight.

So yeah, I’m missing this ‘effort’. So much ‘hate’ eh? (or maybe I just have a different opinion? Doesn’t seem like I’m the only one…)

This is just as bad a sign though. If he is trying his absolute best, then he simply doesn't have what it takes to be a first grade fullback, as his best causes a lot of crucial errors.

You missed the point of workrate and effort. It was there. Your mixing a couple of poor plays with lack of effort over 80 minutes compared to others.

I agree that he got it wrong with that try after half time. He should have attacked that ball.

Maybe saying you hate was wrong, I'll cop that.

If you look at my posts you will see I question if he is a long term 1.
