Klemmer ran 193m, 72 post contacts 34 tackles 0 missed

Papi 160m 53 post contact 26 tackles 1 missed

Api wasn’t at his best but he came on and busted himself trying up the linespeed and enthusiasm when we were obviously going backwards.

Stains was a victim of us playing sideways benji ball most of the match.

Classic tigers performance but disagree that our new recruits were the problem.
Yeah, I get the jokes but seriously we were not that bad and cannot complete at a lower rate.

100% correct

We were to sideways and didnt play the simple Power Game that was need in round 1.

Effort was there, just a few costly lapses in judgement and dropped balls

True, the problem with the dropped balls though were most of them were just simple without any pressure on the receiver. The guys really need to work on their ability to focus and maintain composure and attention under fatigue. Hopefully it will get better as they get fitter, I'm sure it will, but it was a problem all last year simple dropped ball under fatigue.

Our price won't shorten. It'll be 6000's if we lose to Newcastle.
Not our price, Souths' price.
You can currently get $8.20 on Betfair. There was plenty of $10 available a week ago. They'll be the favourites in a few weeks.
You can get $70 on us at the moment. That's value, we looked pretty good against a very underrated Titans and dominated most areas of the game. Laurie's fear of collision and unwillingness to compete for the ball in the air cost us the game.

I am sure the club will improve but not probably in my lifetime,i am 70 and i hope my son will see more premierships than the 2 i saw 69 and 05.
I understand how you feel old mate I am 76 year old, my father used to take me to Birchgrove oval from day one of my football aware life.
And here I am like you all these years later waiting for number 3 to come along before my time runs out.
But with all the shit weve been through, we still love our team, and keep our fingers crossed.

Can't understand the doom and gloom after 1 game. Yes, expectations were high and we fell flat. There are silver linings if you care to look though. We outplayed the Titans in just about every key stat last night...except handling errors. That is what killed us. We are playing with a different attacking style that can yield results if we hang onto the pill. Defence will need to be stiffened up, but I'm not burning my jersey after 1 game. It takes time for new combinations to gel and to blow out the cobwebs and lack of match fitness. The only thing that concerned me about last night was we appeared to lack direction at times. More than once Api would move out from dummy half looking for a runner, with no one there. But again, combinations take time to gel. Im still thinking this year will be a big improvement.

It's PTSD. People are traumatised by 4 years of 5 hit ups and a kick and have lost their objectivity.
An objective observer would realise that was the first game in recent memory that we came out and controlled most aspects of the game.
A bit of rust and errors by the usual suspects cost us but overall it was much improved team from the rugby league vomit we've been accustomed to.

Souths have a big fan base and tend to be under the odds, good first up game but Sharks did have some disruption. They're a good price and you could probably have couple of longshot savers on Manly and Brisbane.

Comments like that tend to come and bite WT's fans on the arse .......if that is going to be our playing style all season we could have completion rates like that every 3 weeks

Daine Laurie - as much as I had hoped for the best - is one of our biggest issues. Great with the ball in hand and chewed up plenty of metres, but he is afraid to put his body on the line.

All the best fullbacks - including a 80 kilo Brett Hodgson, consistently risk it all to get to that high or loose ball.

Think he will find himself in reserve grade before too long. I totally understand why Sheens is in no rush to re-sign him.

Thanks for posting this.
Although I wasn't the poster you were responding to, I never would have guessed their output, and its good to see those numbers.
I clearly need to watch sober next week before I bag anyone.

We bought a descent forward pack and we don’t seem to wanna use em to lay the platform???
This new style of play looks very similar to previous years, randomly throw the ball around hoping someone will get lucky.
Except we ran for over 2000m for the game and 300m more than the Titans.

They definitely laid the platform, we just didn't capitalise on it due, primarily, to handling errors and good scramble by the Titans.

If we play that game again, there's every chance it would go a different way.

Yes spot on. No one is expecting us to win the premiership this year, that is because most acknowledge the need to build and gradually improve. I was looking for a difference in strategy and attitude, and it was there for the most part. The execution and polish will come in time...fingers crossed 🙂

I think Api needs to start the game to get them going forward. Simpkin can come on and make those dummy half burst. I can understand what they were thinking by leaving him on the bench but we are not Penrith, I'll be surprised if he and Offa don't start the game. Twai and Stefo are also on the bench in my line up.

Yeah I was puzzled by that one as well. My thoughts are he had a niggle and they wanted to shield him from the physicality of the first 20 minutes. Doesn't make sense otherwise, Penrith we are not. I thought Twal did quite well though. It was good to see him playing a little bit of ball and making some metres. His usual reliable self in defence 🙂
