Wakeham is a specialist half.
In fact he's the only specialist halfback we have.
Brooks looks totally fried so we really need to decide who can play five eighth next to him.
AD and the team looked entirely different in the trial game they had together compared to what we've had dished up until now.
Only problem is that now Sheens thinks he's a fullback again.
If that is what he's sticking with I'd try Laurie next to Wakeham ... he trained there all preseason.

Laurie can go, imo.
He's not a first grade standard player imo.

Until we can recruit a new option, I'd be happy to roll with...

1 Staines
6 AD
7 Wakeham

AD obviously under strict direction to have a crack or be replaced / contract terminated.
 
The best we have looked was with Wakeham 7 and AD 6. Yes i know it was a trial but that was the best he have looked so far this year. Brooks needs to be dropped. Maybe put Toa at full back he at least has the right attitude and he should be able to get some dirty metres for us i cant remember how he was under the high ball last year
 
Unfortunately I think a lot will be disappointed at 4pm tomorrow when Brooks is named.
This is a massive moment IMO and pray he is dropped but not holding my breath.

Bateman running one off the ruck is creative almost scored against dogs and created a try against storm . Brooks problem is not his speed but his decision making usually the wrong call . Douehi also is confusing the plays and seems to run one out . For these reasons I would try Bateman at no 6 alongside the stock standard no 7 in Wakeham and I would move both Douehi and Brooks to the centers with less decision making responsibility
At center they just need to run hard ,tackle hard and draw and pass .
Wingers are the least responsible for out lack of attack as ball rarely gets to them
I would choose the best two wingers based on how well they handle high ball .Staines failed vs Storm and what the hell was wrong with Naden was he injured as he did nothing
I'd move Kepoa to Bateman 2nd row spot .The rest of the pack pick themselves
That leaves Noffa, Naden , Toa ,Tupou ,Staines and Laurie to fill 4 spots that is
2 wingers , 1 fullback ,1 bench backline utility
Radical maybe but what's been selected is not working

Broncos are the stand out team this year.

Reece Walsh is amazing.
Their hookers are pretty ordinary and that's what holds them back from being considered the best team in the comp.

I've got em making the grand final.

Guys like Haas, Walsh, Renno, Herbie, Katoni - it's almost a dream team with pretty decent depth too.

They will mince us easily.
This game will be ugly for us.

Walsh was always going to be a gun, scary thing the kid hasn’t hit his peak yet.

If we don’t take our opportunities we will be absolutely spanked.

If AD is in the front line Walsh will have a field day.

It's likely what will happen though with Brooks getting tackled on the 5th.

This will be a nightmare.

I'm confused why wakeham didn't act as a 7 last week.
