What exactly happened in the 23 preseason...??

that no one, from board to coaching staff, saw this coming? I am reading about experimentation, players lacking skills, organzational deficiency on the park...isn't this what the pre-season is partly about? I get that playing a game is a totally different thing BUT leading up the start of the season you'd think we'd have had a good look at the roster, decided who would cut the mustard, and if the end result was an average to below average crop of players, then work out what tactics were to be put in place to address the team's weaknesses.
Alas, I get the sense that this pre-season, like many before, happened, but with limited, if any, sense of direction.

As an aside, and as a former MP once said, we've hit the perfect storm - an incapable board, with an incapable coaching staff, leading to a string of losses - if this doesn't get a radical change, I am not sure what ever will.

I mentioned pre season we had no halves...one injury to Brooks or AD and we literally had no one. They brought Wakeham in very late, but the planning was attrocious.

They basically bet the house on Brooks and AD having career years 'and' not getting hurt.

And now both are having career 'worst' years...and there is literally no one to replace them.

Most of the fans didn’t see it coming either .. based on pre season expectations…

Somehow they conned everyone that they were going to improve this year…players as well as coaches talking it up in the pre season fluff pieces ..

The main problem remains that most of the players they have are not good enough..

A good example of bad planning...

Matamura and Tumeth are great kids...but both got NRL deals despite being nowhere near physically ready. Look at Matamura putting his jersey on last night...he is genuinely fat / chubby / puppy fat. Tumeth is 15 kilos too light. Both are developing...but we gave them NRL deals.

Meanwhile...Katoga is 109 kilograms and physically ready. Bumping off people at will in state cup and almost unstoppable one on one. Physically ready.

Yet he got no deal. Off to the Dogs as a result.

Surely you give the NRL deals to blokes with NRL bodies and the DEV deals to kids who are developing?

Hard work is never mentioned with this club other than when someone has a whinge about it. Yet when our players go to other clubs they are quick to talk about it then as if it's some revelation.
Our players get paid as much as others in teams that work twice as hard on game day. That attracts a certain type and makes it hard to retain those who want to win.
The leadership at the club stinks on and off the field
Maguire failed - no doubt about it - but he had very little support on the field, and then ultimately off the field. Now Sheens is exactly in the same predicament. Can't drop them all - welcome to Maguires dilemma.

How the hell do you stink it up at 6 then get promoted to 1 ?
Sheenious
Exactly bro. Dumb ay
Few ppl talking up this young kid, saying he's going to be an awesome fb, gets his path blocked. We lose another fb who goes on to kill it at another club.
If I was a talented young fb in the tigers system, who would you rather learn from, teddy or AD?
We're sooo shit

Definately didnt see it coming because the players ARE good enough. Nothing wrong with the players, ok maybe brooks needs to grow some but imagine taking over someone elses super coach team 3 weeks in. On this note i had dools but he wouldnt play fullback.

Ur left w two trades, plus bonus a week and inflated prices.

This is madges team n sheens and benji are just looking at it on paper, not COACHING....dont start me on that. Dont want to repeat myself but post match conference waa frustrating. This aint supercoach 🙂 !!

Api, papalii bateman key signings from disciplined backgrounds. Joe offa club awarded player, where is he? Now almost drinking lattes the lot of them.

Of course everyone at the club saw this coming.

We were the wooden spooner last year. We won a whopping total of four games!

You don't go from wooden spooners to finalists in a season.

Mind boggling that we seemed to prioritize Tumeth over this bloke, of course there could be things in the background we arent privy to but seems an odd one.
