My assumption is that Hastings was on the nose because he was clearly our only halfback. We looked better in my opinion with him on the park even when he was playing lock because he was basically playing the same role.

The coaching staff stuffed up in my opinion big time letting him go.

I'm not convinced though when people state we'd be 2 out of 5 or whatever that this is true. I agree with everything else.

The best 2 games we played last year were the consecutive weeks V Cowboys and Broncos. Hastings was in the 13 for both those games.

With coaches - I will feel like I feel now.

If sheens had taken over last year he would’ve seen Jackson was the half back to keep

He was too arrogant telling hastings to play lock

Even worse case he could’ve just told Jacko “I’ll start you at lock and let you duke it out with brooks for half”

The problem is they can’t drop brooks now bc it will be a complete admission of guilt…

If we lose 10 straight it will be hard to keep brooks in the team

Management will just hide behind the football department …

But they’ll be huge pressure on Justin if we’re 0-10.

As I said, it has to be a disaster for us for there to be “a hope” of change … not guaranteed change … a hope!

That’s the best we can aim for.

if we win this weekend it’ll take the pressure off for another 3/4 losses because everyone will think we can win.

And for anyone saying it’s a disaster already it’s not .. it’s bad… but not a disaster

0-10 = disaster.

The more we lose the better.

Apparently Bateman and Hastings don't get along. If we kept Jacko we would have lost Bateman. Trouble is, he was easily the best organising half at the club.

Speaking on NRL 360 on Tuesday night, co-host Paul Kent and league journalist Paul Crawley suggested that Bateman's signing ultimately triggered the departure of Hastings. The pair insinuated that Bateman was unhappy about reuniting with Hastings at the Wests Tigers, prompting the club to explore the trade deal to send their half to the Knights.

“The funny thing was as soon as we got wind that Bateman was going there, I got told that he wouldn’t play with Jackson Hastings,” Crawley said on NRL 360. “I inquired about that story and I got told that Hastings didn’t have a problem with Bateman, but I am pretty sure the other way around was an issue.

“And so following that about a week later, Jackson ends up in Newcastle and there you go. But there’s no issues....” NRL 360 co-host Paul Kent added: “Bateman and Hastings were teammates at Wigan and didn’t get on there, to the point where Hastings left.”


The NRL 360 crew are dodgy, so it might be BS, but that's what's been reportedd.

Was Madden half? I could have sworn Brooks was out at that period, or maybe my memory is just making things up again.

Thanks for that as i was not aware of where the rumour came from but as i suspected it is far from a credible source

Yes its true was it 4 or 5 tries he scored in one game 2022
Also 2020 was Wests Tigers player of the year ? Think players vote
Also Dally M winger of the year and 99 tries . Think he got a double vs Parra Easter Monday last year . No worries your superstar new wingers will get a double ?

This forum seriously needs to ban the Hastings talk, it’s pointless and boring. Go buy a knights membership if you miss him so much, just get ready to have to buy a Titans one in the next 18 months.

wrong attitude mate,Hastings was liked by many on here when he was with us,he loved the fans and the club....we can talk about him as much as we like,God knows we have had years of Brooks bashing and AD ball busting...I hope he goes really well at Newie and beside all that,making it into an NRL team is an achievement on its own....

all it takes these days is to take a pic with a fan to get gushed over, sad state of affairs. i tend to like players who are, you know, good at playing footy

apparently hes loved all 6 clubs and fans, funny that
 
We simply cannot win with Brookes in the halves. Wakeham must get a go with Douehi & Brooks can move to the centres . Coaching team please note - do same thing get same result - please repeat. Cannot wait for the bye for my blood pressure to recover.
