Vale Rosie

Yesterday my best friend Rosie the American Staffy passed.
She was a good girl who deserves her own thread.
I already miss her terribly and it's a pain that I don't think I will ever get over.
We spent all day every day together and she loved her family, human and furry.
Our years together seem to have passed in an instant and part of my identity is gone with her.
If you have a friend that has passed feel free to add your memory.
All dogs are the best people.
You were very loved Rosie

Sorry to hear brother.

They give us the best days and then the worst day....

I know your feels and wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Rest in Paradise to Rosie.

I don't know what I'll do when my staff passes away.
Look after yourself🙏

Todd, how old was Rosie?

We've been rescue dog addicts for a long time. Joy for years and then inevitably...heart break. Our little Missy gone done by a brown snake a few months ago - devastating.

Now we've inherited another two rescues from my wife's Mum and Dad who passed away last year so we have three.

Day time I feed 130 horses twice a day, later we feed and walk 3 pups on a small country golf course by a lake. Swim, run, chase magpies and then home to bed to do it all again.

I much prefer animals to people! They are honest.

So sad for you Todd, but you know you have to get back on the horse?

She was 12. Cancer got her.

We adopted Rosie when she was 5. We were on a day trip from our home in Brisbane to Noosa and stopped in at the Noosa RSPCA on the way home. All the other dogs would bark and carry on when we walked by their cage but Rosie just stuck her nose through the cage and looked at me. She had scars all over her nose from the mistreatment of the low mongrel that had her before us, who left her at the side of the Bruce Hwy to fend for herself. We weren't looking to adopt a second dog at the time so we drove home.
I thought about her all night and the next day I said to my wife "Do you want to drive back to Noosa and get that dog?" She was in.
She only took a couple of weeks of kindness to realise she didn't have to be afraid anymore. Unfortunately, she never liked other dogs except for our own family because of her mental scars.
You could see the gratitude in her eyes every day and when we brought a new puppy home she was the gentlest dog mum.

I can't imagine a day when I'll stop missing her.

If you can adopt like Mac did please do. I promise you that those rescue dogs will show their appreciation every day for what you have done.

It's feels like losing a member of your family, because that's exactly what it really is. We have lost our last two pooches, Betsy the Basset and Hugo the Labrador, each at 12 years old. We keep their ashes here at home. Once a family member, always a family member. Cost a fair bit but we didn't want to risk either of our mates ending up just being dumped somewhere. Have a new dog now, Rosie the rescue Greyhound and she's just beautiful.

Nice story mate, sorry for your loss.
She was lucky to have found you, she would of loved the second half of her life, always getting looked after, loved and treated well.
Such a hard thing losing a dog, especially one that becomes so entrenched as part of your life and family.
It does get easier mate, time definitely helps to heal.
Dogs are a true gift.

So very sorry for your loss.
I've also lost many loved companions over many years.
But I do it all again for the joyous memories and the shared times that they bring.

& I hope that, in time, you will be able to too.

In the last few years, vale: Tommy, Nissa, Tali, Cheery (dogs), Silverbelle, Quicksilver (cats) and Buddy (horse).

Currently we have two lovely rescue greyhounds (Kirra and Ranger)

On Friday we adopted a black Labrador from the RSPCA.
She will never replace Rosie but I feel like there's an obligation to open your home to a dog in need if you have the time and attention to give them.
Bobby is our new girl and she was seized by Toowoomba council after being overfed and allowed to reach 70kg. She's down to 50kg's now and needs to lose another 15. She made the Toowoomba news when she was seized so she's our house celebrity.
