Yikes, there's some Brooks-loving fanboi's in this thread. Not sure I've ever seen a halfback's performance described as "absolutely carved them up", "killed them", "STFU game", "very very very good" and be on the losing side with no tries, no try assists, no line breaks. He threw a couple of good passes which ended up going through further hands to lead to tries. Is that the only basis for "carving up"? Wow. The bar has been set very very very low it seems.

Even Moses for the Eels had 4 try assists and nailed some great sideline conversions and I still wouldn't describe his performance as a "carve up", let alone Brooks performance.
Spot on frosty. 5/10 game which is a 40% improvement on the usual dribble he produces all of the sudden he's worth another contract?
 
The fan boys also never let us forget that he was halfback of the year once. Alll the other good halves must have been on the sideline injured because to this day I still cannot fathom how he got that award
Same year Cleary made his origin debut, how can you be the best halfback in the comp and not play origin I'll never know
 
Interesting point. I couldn't believe some of those passes that he threw. I watched the whole game and I even posted on here during the game. Brooks had a real good game but so did Tupou, Bateman, Api and Staines.

I think Brooks has been solid with some critical mistakes a couple of times but he really showed class out there yesterday.

It was good seeing Api really focus on Brooks there.
A few of his poor passes can be explained by the wide running forwards crowding him. When you see him pass with force the intended recipient is out wider, but for some reason the back rower doesn’t have the nouse to dodge the ball.
On one occasion Kepaoa slowed in his run and squared his body to Brooks making the ball bounce off his right shoulder.
When Benji last played he had Kepaoa on the left wing always standing too deep, the constant chatter between the two would have been interesting. Finally, Benji throws the ball where he wanted Kepaoa, which was about 5 meters in front of him. At the next opportunity it worked with the winger flat and clear passage to the try line.
It’s a team sport.
 
Luke Brooks didn't have real good game, if he did we win, we were dominant in quite a few areas out there.
A few players really stood up and almost lifted us over the line, he wasn't one of them. He is not the future and I cannot understand the perserverence with him. The club has let itself down by falsely pinning all their hopes on him. Time to let the young blokes step in and try and build something, especially with pack going well, a couple of injuries to key forwards and we could end up worse than last year. He's only the best half in the club because no one else gets a chance and it's been that way for years now.

Let's just break down the facts.

Tigers vs Parra
Try 1:- Toa'a picks up loose ball - not created with our attack. It's just a loose ball.
Try 2:- Brooks with a beautiful out ball to Kepaoa.
Try 3:- Brooks with a beautiful long ball to create space for Naden to score.
Try 4:- Brooks to Staines to Tupou.

To add to that he made a beautiful kick to get us 6 again under pressure, defended extremely well and made no mistakes.

Our no 1 play maker in 23 is doing his job and doing it well.

I’m not getting too excited. I’ll watch the game when I get home next few days, but I know we lift against eels and so does Brooksy. However, from what I saw on the highlights reel our backline could be getting it together.

If he's trying to attribute the tries to Brooks for throwing standard passes for a halfback, why not attribute the tries to Koroisau? He threw standard passes to Brooks, and dummied and threw cutout passes to Brooks. Or attribute the tries to Staines and Bateman for drawing defenders before passing to their outside men? Or attribute the try to Kepaoa for setting up his winger and backing up his winger? It's not all Brooks "brilliant halfback play" which led to the tries, it involved 3-4 players doing their jobs of drawing and passing at a basic level for first grade footballers.

Same here. We have the classy heartbreaker creating for us but he needs a half around him who can take some of the pressure off him especially in relation to the general kicking duties. We also need some more impact from our outside backs.

We have a Porsche in our halves who picks his moments beautifully like all the classiest players do but he needs others guys to step up. Brooksy will have us scoring plenty of points if the guys lift around him.
