If we think the halfback cupboard is bare - are there any ball playing, creative locks with a short kicking game about (Isiah Yeo types) that could guide us around the park? They may be easier to source.

I think this may have been Sheens’ plan if Hastings stayed?

Matamua - was a half up until recently. Hopefully he gets another 6 - 10 games off the bench this year and a good off season so he could be a regular player in 17 next year. Starting 13 playing every week might be a big ask for next year though…

Seriously, none of the players mentioned are an improvement on Brooks. Want him gone, but don't want to move sideways.

Tass is not a difference maker. Solid but not worth investing big money in. Prefer Graham but there's no way we get him. The priority must be a half decent, organising half.

Keeping Hastings was always the play. Tigers looked 10x as good with him vs without. Absolutely mental that they let him go.

Wighton made the logical choice.

Will be the team to watch next year.

I feel sorry for our coaching staff yes they have made a few shocking decisions (hastings) but seriously look at the players they managed to bring in after getting our first wooden spoon. If a couple of things had just gone our way this year we would be 3 from 8 and we are fighting for the 8 but unfortunately things just haven’t worked out that way now we find our selfs in a huge mess I hope and pray we can attract a decent halfback to the club and move on from brooks

We have two spots up for grabs. In all seriousness another option wouldn't hurt. We need a marquee signing but I don't think there are any on the market and we won't get them anyway. We have no idea who our halves are for the next however many seasons and we don't have any juniors that are realistically looking close to ready.

The management team of the footy side gave up last year and are making it clear the next 2 years are just about setting Benji up. Then I reckon it's 3 years for Benji to learn prior to getting punted.

This is the part I am strongly against.

We can't go into the market thinking like that, because we'll end up back in the market after failing with whoever we take a gamble on - JUST because it's not Brooks.

What are peoples thoughts on trying to lure Luke Metcalf back to Australia ?
I realise he has picked up a hamstring injury , but will now be stuck behind Johnson, Walker and Martin when he returns at the Warriors.
He has been behind DCE at Manly and Chad Townsend at the Sharks for a few years now, but has been pretty consistent in that time in the KOE for Newtown especially.
