Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I think they haven't decided about Brooks for 2024 yet . One game isn't enough to decide anything .However if they do extend it would be imo 400k one year or 750 k 2 years and don't think Brooks will accept such a big cut
With the way Issac Moses led us down the path in the MM contract negotiations I doubt we will be doing him any favours with Brooks contract. There is a real chance it’s going to bite Brooks big time and I doubt there will be any big dollar offers.

Gee S, he only got dropped, not kicked out. If players change like that no club would have any security.
We talked about him pre season but nobody wanted a goal kicker( back on my old hobby horse) and big strong centre.
Maybe if he pops up again we might rethink.

The problem is he is on good dollars for like 10 years or something. He can play but he makes dumb decisions.

Think you are painting with a pretty broad brush there Hal. I recall quite a few would have happily welcomed Zac and some were even trying to spread rumours that WTs had signed Jess Sergis in an attempt to lure him here as well.
I'd love to have Zac in the centres here, but as you alluded to, the blokes got a contract.
However, I do get the feeling what has happened today is not a just storm in a teacup.
Wait and see I guess.

Demps might get his wish afterall.

Zac Lomax, Aaron Schoup and Brad Morkos (Raiders) are 3 very good strike centres not playing NRL this weekend.
Lomax the highest profile, but Schoup has already proven himself ti be a good quality NRL centre and should be approaching his prime and Morkos who played for NSW u/19 last season has not played NRL as yet, but is potentially the best of the 3 of them.
Any one of them would be a great addition to WT with Talau’s departure.

Lomax is only good on the right and To'a has been good at right centre. Talent is there with Lomax but not sure we'd be better off paying whatever we need to secure him when To'a is giving us solid play at a budget price.

My mail is he is not with Jess Sergis these days anyway , but i think Zac would be an asset if we could land him

Got an axe off the old man back in about 1981 when I move from home, he'd had it for years himself before giving it to me.

Still got the same axe, its had a couple of new heads and about half a dozen new handles put on it in the time I've had it.

I'll probably pass it on to my son one day, family heirloom.
You’re a plonka Rodney

Depends if we sign Staines for more years, he's only signed this year and since he's not playing fullback he might decide to leave.
I think he’s a good winger and also decent cover for fullback. It’ll be interesting ay, they may give junior tupou a run in centre given talau is going and AJ is a back rower in my opinion. Junior is a natural centre but he’s quiet small

A little advice wanted.

A defending player to stop a try being scored picks the attacking player up and carries him over the line of the in goal area, but the player being carried throws a pass back into the ingoal, but after player carrying him has grounded both feet outside the field of play.

Because the attacking players feet are still off the ground is that pass still in play or dead ball because both feet of defender carrying him are in touch. ???????

I would be going hard for Averillo. Right centre back up FB or even can play 6. Off contract this year can negotiate & sign tomorrow. Dogs signed Xerri & Crichton. Fox, Alamoti, Kiraz & Perham finish the backline. Doubt he wants the 14 jumper.

Resign Staines.

Bula, Tupou, Averillo, Naden, Staines.

Nofa, To'a & Kepaoa back up backline players for first grade. Kepaoa makes the bench each week for sure.

Then we nail down a half back. Trindall, Hunt, Walker or Pezet are our best options but all on contract. One may jag a release!

Forward pack sorted already. Sort the back line & we may get a good #7.
