Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It gives us the opportunity to win games while we're still finding our long term solution. One things for sure, we don't have any immediate medium term options at the club so getting anyone decent on loan won't hurt us at all..
We need to win games using guys who are here for the rebuild.
I am well aware that there isn’t much available on the market or within the club. That’s why I am resigned to the fact that Brooks will have to be re-signed and played at 6, whilst Wakeham is given time to show what he has got.
Bringing in Walker or anyone else for the remainder of the season, when they have zero intention of playing next year, will only delay any development we are engaged in.

Halves...
Bottom line is Scott Fulton and Warren McDonnell need to work harder to make/break contracts just like others constantly do to us
Id start with the 2 poms off contract end 24...that can probably be fixed with $$ negotiation,/transfer fees which no-one will remember if they do well
We have Brooks $1.1 and Douhis 670k to play with, which we can bring fwd to this year. Both cooked at WTs if ere gonna go anywhere
If the Poms wanna stay in UK,,Id then move on to the better halves in NRL who arent past their bestby date, but underdelivering for one reason or another
But dont give us high maintenance unproven dropkicks like Schuster who has achieved nothing, nor eratic has beens like Johnson/Mitchell looking for a super top up
Hunt cld work.Taafe cld be useful
Our top heavy coaching team need to start delivering some results to establish cred, which theyre well on the way to,and similiarly our top heavy recruitment team needs to add value with some outside the box recruits rather than simply warm their seats waiting for contracts to expire

Brooks has been really good this season?? With respect, are you able to put your man crush aside for one moment and look at the reality of his overall performance? Most on here would agree that he has been really bad in 2023 which is why we're investigating securing a replacement. Having said that, you are spot on regarding Api being our best player.
Agree, Brooks was terrible in his first few games this year.
I don’t believe much of what I hear in the media, but I do trust my eye and I can see his improvement in each game.
Someone stated on here in March that we looked like a pub team picked after 6 schooners 😂
That was the best description of us back then, but as each game is played..well, like Api said from day one..”our focus is on looking like a footy team.
I know I said after game one that I’ll give it 12 rounds but I’m willing to give them 15 now, with Adams injury.
After rnd 15, if Brooks isn’t our best option at 7, then I’ll understand why the club wants him replaced.

We have that same opportunity to win each week without becoming a training ground for other clubs.
There’s no upside for WT, only downside as we saw with Grant leaving us still with a void to fill.

That's very funny about the pub team Twentyforty but, also a sad indictment on the shambolic state of the team in the early rounds. The team is definitely beginning to show signs of life but there is still a long way to go regarding getting the attacking structures right. As I keep harping, how much of this is coaching and how much of this is the incompetence of the halves and their inability to carry out team instructions? One thing is for sure, I can't see Brooks ever becoming a consistently effective first grade half back and he's been given so many chances.

Jake Averillo unsigned for next year. He's been playing great at centre and can do a job in a pinch at 1 and 6. I'd be offering him a contract
Can't see the Dogs letting him go, they love the guy as much as Kiraz and I think he has finally cemented his spot at centre.

Would be a great aquisition if we could get him, excellent in the centres and very good fullback back up player as you have mentioned.

Oliver Gildart - probably the worst centre I have ever seen play
The worst part was his complete disrespect towards Wests Tigers when he got his 2 minutes of glory at the Roorters and after scoring a few tries for the Bears at North Sydney.

Must have thought he had reached Super Star status and that Wayne had a walk up starting spot for him in the Dolphins team.

Think again dickhead, the only status you've reached is Super League status.

Depends on how much we offer him compared to what the dogs have got spare to offer

Simple we need a right centre, Kepaoa or To'a could do the job but Kepaoa as a utility off the bench is something we have been lacking. To'a as a back up backline player.

If we don't resign Staines then Averillo provides depth at FB & #6.

Got a lot going for him, our sell is a locked in staring spot. Not a big move geographically & good cash!!!

Personally $2M over 4 years. Player Option on the 4th. $450K in 24 & 25. $550K in 26 & 27. If he kills it & wants more he can do a Wighton in 27 & look for more.

Agree still a long way to go.
Disagree with your view of Brooks’ talent, or ability to consistently deliver as a first grade 7.
There’s a lot of moving parts other than what we see on field. Last year Brooks had to call out a leaker.
I suspect it was a board member. Possibly the same person who dropped Brooks then leaked it to Buzz. This insight into the club’s behaviour should have been included in the Wild Wests Documentary, it would have hit Netflix as a saleable drama comedy.
My point is, there are a lot of distractions and demotivational behaviours.
If you recall, Brooks wanted to go but the club wouldn’t let him.
