Dominated all the stats. We were all over them i'd say for 50/80 minutes. Almost Tiger'd it... but didn't. We almost Tiger'd it last week, but didn't. Lots of momens where luck was just in our favour in both games. You make your own luck in rugby league. Fingers crossed we get another close contest against Souths. I think we can compete.

Yes I see improvement with points conceded but I would praise our completion and error rates, our discipline with the ref and the meters gained through the middle with this rather than our technique in defence. Most weeks this year our stats, with the obvious exception of the score says we won if you took a quick glance at them. This, in my opinion has lessened opposition time in our 20 and thus smaller scores against are occurring.

As for our defence, most of our guys are still easily beaten laterally, we still struggle communicating and our structure is wishy washy and convoluted. Put the effort into defence that we did to save that last try or we did all game last week and we win half the games we lost.

Yeah the points you mention all go towards a better defense... Mainly the forwards winning the Ruck or at least competing... This reduces pressure... We don't have to infringe to try and hold them (discipline) obviously helps with metres gained which in turn helps field position and completions... Winning the Ruck also keeps the opp defense back and they aren't in our face causing (errors)
Baby steps... It won't happen overnight and we need to aim for 10/12 points against per game... Might take a couple years

I think something the commentators forget is how unlucky we've been in those games too. Today, we had a couple of scoring opportunities that had cms in it. Flips those and it's a wider margin.

Only watched the game late yesterday cause I didn't want to get on the turps early in the afternoon.

We were dominant until Sullivan came on and then for some reason we got the heebie-jeebies for about 25 minutes.
We never got full control back but Saints helped us out as well with some even stupider moments.
I've seen enough of Talau and AJ to know we need better centres. Toa is starting to develop a bit more so we should persevere with him a bit longer. Wakeham, apart from his touch-finder, wasn't too bad and is seemingly becoming more confident. His 40-20 was good and shows what he may become.
Jury still out on Brookes but to be fair that's probably my bias against him showing. He did some OK things but he's not the game controller we need. It's either him or Wakeham that needs to go.

We lost momentum when Joffa and the baby giraffe came on.
Joffa's offered nothing this season and really stifles a set of 6 with his insipid hit ups.

100% Laurie would've employed the pretend to slip over tactic if Ravalawa ran at him.

Also, it irritates me that many are claiming Wakehams stuff up kicking for touch lead to a try. It merely gave them possession. The fact we allowed them to make 70 meters that set and miss an easy tackle near the line caused the try.

True. Once again we failed to defend our error.

I haven't noticed anyone taking Wakeham to task over his line dropout. What a stroke of luck that was. Last week he put his dropout into the crowd. This week a freakish bounce gave us back possession. The football gods were smiling on us with that one.

Wakeham's kicking is a bit heart-in-mouth for me.

Nofo was great wasn't he. That try he scored off Bula was huge. Tupou and Nofo scored tries they had no right to score. Wingers are really important in today's game.

Forgot to add in my last post I'm disappointed with Papalii so far this year.

No really barnstorming runs - everything seems half-paced. I would have thought with the positive attitude starting to infect the team he would lift more but......

Same. I feel like he is doing the bare minimum to keep the spotlight off his performances. He isn’t playing poorly at all. More so just adequately.
We need him to lift if we are to beat the Bunnies.

If we had someone suitable to replace him I'd consider giving him a couple of Nofo weeks in the hope of an attitude shift.
It's clear and obvious that the team are responding around Api and some others.

Time for him to get on the ........ oh! That's already been used 🙂

We're still rusty & if Bula wasn't playing we would've lost the last 2 games
Dream is bringing out the best in our players even the crap ones with his efforts
We are still on our L's when it comes to winning
We haven't won 3 in a row in ages & the souths game will be a good indicator to see if we can get our P' s or stay on our L's

Noticed Brooks run the ball twice on the 5th tackle 10m out for a change over.
Already forgotten the short kick for a try or line drop out.
But overall, he did have a very good game!

No, he wasn't. He scored a try, yes, but otherwise he spent most of the day running sideways.

What annoyed me
Alot of our success in the first half came from grubbers

Why go away from that and do the shitty short crash balls to talau or the bombs to there wingers which they disposed easily

Brooks has a terrible kicking game with very little confidence. That's why in the second half we only ever attacked in one set, and when in the lead we just ran through the motions, never tried to secure the win, just meekly handed over possession time and again. Being so confident in your own incompetence and that you'd stuff up that you don't even try. Pretty embarrassing.
