After watching the tigers great win last night , I thought the NRL should send the AFL a copy of that game , because all of the crowd booed Luciano every time he got the ball . Even the commentators said it was great theatre, so why the hell did the AFL carry on like big woke baby’s when a Sydney swans player got booed . Glad we have the freedom to boo players that we don’t like or other wise

Why were they booing Adam Goodes? Were they booing an opposition player, or were there racial connotations? (I don't know the answer to this I don't really follow the AFL.) If it's the latter, then you can't compare the two.

What Adam Goodes went through was absolutely disgusting sportsmanship at its worst.
I hope that never finds its way into NRL.

Thanks for confirming that. He was that affected by the booing that he took time away from the game.
I think the difference is that Lucy got booed coz he was an ex Tiger who bailed on the club after downing tools then bashed his Mrs.
The Collingwood fans we're not booing an ex player. They were booing Buddy coz he's Aboriginal, like they did to Goodes. There's a huge racist undertone in Melbourne/AFL

Luciano's already had his time away from the game and only just returned yesterday.
All that booing was retrospective.

Really, I live in Bleak City but don’t think that’s been fully confirmed - mainly speculation.
There’s lots of Aboriginal players in the AFL but they only really booed 2 , both Swans and both champs ??
You may be right but I think as far as Buddy’s concerned it’s not really racist imo. If so, why has only just occurred ?

I can't speak for the Goodes/Franklin booing because I don't follow AFL enough and it could very well be because they are Aboriginal, but there are plenty of Aboriginal players who aren't booed by fans I'm sure.
In an NRL context I personally think Latrell is a good person off the field, but he's an absolute grub on the field. If he got booed by fans, it would be because he's a grub and not because he's Aboriginal, but you can tell the media narrative would immediately be about race. Likewise Walker, absolute grub on the field and very dislikeable player who's worth booing. On the flip side, why would any boo Tabuai-Fidow or Addo-Carr? No reason to boo them and accordingly they don't get booed.
We have an obligation to stamp out racism and discrimination at every opportunity we can, but at the same time it's patronising to suggest that an Aboriginal can't be a villain and do things worthy of booing either.

Aussies are no where near as racist as claimed. We are tall poppy hunters though and if you excel, especially in sport, we’ll go after you to gain some sort of advantage.
