Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

With Nofa already on big money and with 2 more years to go, and Bula and Tupou commanding upgrades and extensions, Stains is likely to be a salary cap casualty I expect. He’s currently on $500k or thereabouts as I understand we took on his whole contract from Penrith. Even if we got him for $350k next year it’s probably too much for a backup winger/fullback option. I agree he’ll get more money and opportunities elsewhere.

This is where that dud deal for Nofa is coming back to bite us (if you prefer Stains over Nofa). It’s a lesson to never just spend salary cap money, you need to spend it wisely as there’ll always be an opportunity cost somewhere down the line.
Can we do the same with nofa as we did with joffa?

Yep, barely score. We needed a player in the bin and the ref to go bonkers penalising them and even then we couldn’t score enough to win the game.
So you can sugarcoat it all you like but one game of 66 and 19 points in 5 mins doesn’t cut it.
I see Annersley has admitted that the Raiders should have been penalised for pushing Brooks in the back and a no try.
At least Sheens has the ball to call out bad calls from the refs.
It was again Ash Klown’s bunker call.

I’m at a point that I’m actually trusting the people running the club to make the rite decisions It’s a very odd feeling hahaha I just look at last years off season. If we can bring in more quality players like we did last year it’s only going to benefit us

Perhaps it is a case of the known in terms of the capabilities of some players weighed against promoting replacements from our system or going to market. It may be a mix of both. We have a good history of producing quality juniors and need to back our system.

Its scary isnt it... Im the same... (could be Stockholm syndrome)

I liked what Chairman Lee Said in His interview "If it makes our club better, ten we move forward".

Moving Nofo on makes sense if we retain Brooks as both of them are eligible for the long-serving player allowance.

If Brooks leaves, I don't see the benefit of moving Nofo on. Even if he's on 500k a year which is overpaying for him, only like 200k would count towards our cap. He's better than any other winger you can find for 200k given min wage is gonna be like 150k now.

An admission of guilt doesn’t give me back my 2 points. But Klown and Anusley should feel better for it. I love the nrl.
Am I getting enough sarcasm into my posts?

I was impressed with Jay Kirk watching the highlights of the Flegg game. He is also a local junior with size, excellent pace and can finish a try. Feledy and Kirk seem to have a good centre/wing combination building. It would be nice for him to come through our system to the NRL.

Yes we can!
If he leaves us I reckon that will be the beginning of the end of his career, I just can’t see him putting in extras to get to that next level and he gets away with it here coz he’s a jr.
Although I have seen him stay on his wing and mark his man in D recently, I think Hopa got the shock of his life when Nofa was there to make the tackle. I know I did.

Agree with feledy, we should send him and a few others to the stint trainer whisperer that turbo and the likes go too! He’s a strong stocky player but a bit short, unfortunately he’s a bit in the style of toa. It would be better to have a different style of centre, but it is what it is. I watched him yesterday playing with naden in the opposed team at training he’s obviously high on their list and not far off.
Unless a great fast centre comes off contract, I am happy with what we’ve got. All our money now needs to be on a controlling half, like Hunt. These level of players are at a different level, u can see at the drag queens he’s the only one that gives them impetus. Lock up brooks as a running half on a reduced contract. And get some Hunt!
I just can’t see Hunt entertaining the idea?
Surely he’s seen enough at Dragons to get a good understanding of Tigers.
Dragons sacked a perfectly good coach.
I honestly never thought I would see the day a club had to chase hard for a coach only to be turned down, but there you go.

as Garry has said both Klemmer and Api qualify for the long serving player allowance

The 2being shopped around that I’m a bit disappointed with are TT and Blore.
Tommy has been above average in the last few games, Blore I think there’s more upside with him seems to have fallen out of favour with Sheens.
You still need to replace the players who leave, maybe with cheaper versions.
Hopefully they know what they are doing, history doesn’t give me confidence.
Talau was always going to take a little while given he missed the entirety of the season last year and had a few weeks out after the Knights game. once back in the side he's slowly improved week on week, culminating in his best game last week.

his current trajectory could see him become a very decent left centre by the end of the year, which will be disappointing if he heads to Manly, considering we helped him to rehab and have now given him plenty of time onfield.

Blore is a disappointing one. I'm not sure what they expected with him given he's played approx 20 games in four years. I feel as if he's a class above in Cup and is a victim of being a specialist backrower as opposed to a utility like Kepaoa. he must be on a deal that doesn't reflect his output, that's the only thing I can think of. it's a loss that could really come back to bite us unfortunately.

If the chairman was being honest we can expect the imminent resignations of him and the entire board because that would be the easiest and bestway for the club to move forward. His weasel words do not fill me with any confidence

Gus said something the other day and I agree. The sin bin didn't cause us to score because they were a man down. It caused us to score because it took the raiders niggle out of the game and caused them to start playing footy, which we were better at. It should of happened way earlier as they were laying through our ruck, tackling our kickers, pushing our players in the back (Brooks an example, Johnny fired up a few times) both teams were offside all game but we seemed to be the only team being punished until the end. The 8-0 6 again count isn't because the refs were trying to get us the win... if anything they should of been penalties as there were a few in our half.

Before we scored 3 and a field goal in 10 minutes against them they had conceded 2 tries total in their last 2 sin bins. We almost doubled that in 1. We were the much better team.
We were the better team statistically. We couldn’t score enough to win and that’s the bottom line.
3 & 9 is our record this year. They are doing enough to win games, yet lose 3 out of every 4. Not acceptable.
