Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I honestly think 500k is a fair deal for Brooks and the club. I'd give him an extra year rather than increase the amount we are offering too much.

I suppose you go up to 600k but not much more if anything.
I think that's fair, iv been and still am a huge Brooks critic, but on 600k a year for say 3 years I could live with that, he's not going to have our cap out of shape and if his performances remain like the bulk of his career at 600k we could still find a better replacement in time.

You'd expect Sheens is not happy with this.
I'm assuming it's an innuendo piece because it says it results from internal differences in regard to re-signing Brooks. But Sheens and Marshall are the ones who want to re-sign him. So if McDonall is gone then that would suggest he is against it even though he is only in pathways now, suggesting he had some kind of falling out with Sheens or Marshall. Something doesn't make sense. The only logical person who could've been against it is Fulton now hes in charge of the top 30 , yet he is still there, and why would that push McDonnell out. 2 and 2 aren't adding up.

McDonnell gone. And lots of theatrics from the Telecrap.

Wests Tigers have parted ways with one of Tim Sheens most loyal lieutenants, recruitment manager Warren McDonnell.
His departure comes amid rumours that the club was split over the decision to offer Luke Brooks a new contract.

McDonnell, who has spent more than three decades at Wests and the Tigers across two stints, is believed to have split with the club on Wednesday morning.

Sheens was the driver behind his return to the club last year but his position has been under a cloud since the Tigers secured Scott Fulton from Manly.

McDonnell was responsible for signing some of the club’s most renowned players including Benji Marshall and Scott Prince.

Club officials privately dismissed those claims on Wednesday after it was put to them that Sheens and Marshall were responsible for the decision to offer Brooks a new two-year-deal when others were less than convinced.
I don’t care about him leaving , UNLESS Mr Fulton doesn’t deliver us some class recruits, starting NOW would be good 👍

Yeh very little detail in the article. Doesn't really make sense

Who cares, some of Sheens decisions over the years caused us a tonne of grief

'If' Sheens does take issue with it, My bet is he'd be one of the few.....

With Fultons appointment, One thing I feel may be overlooked is the fact he's got a good working relationship with Tartak (Benjis' long time Manager) and also the Manager of a heap of our younger talent (Amongst others)....

Benji hasn't been mentioned in all this, But I wouldn't be surprised if it's the incoming coach who wanted some fresh blood in the role and McDonnell moved on?
And the Hierarchy at the club made it happen
- Knowing it wasn't going to happen if they were to involve Sheens, And Benji not being in a position to raise his issues with Sheens.

It's too quiet around it all for me to believe that no one in the coaching ranks new anything about it....
Has Benji and Robbie all over it for mine....

If this is true, then old mate Pascoe has a lot of explaining about "not being involved in the football department"

Said in my previous post, This all coming from no where and happening so quietly has to be more to it....
I think the suits an board are acting on behalf of some (But not all) of the coaching Staff - Just to prevent any friction coming into 2025...

To be fair - W Mc hasn't had much wind in his sails since the early 2010's....

This year was the clubs best ever recruitment drive and we need a new recruitment guy? Who’s done zero in a month. Our Board, Chairman and CEO are absolutely incompetent.

So tell me who the recruits you're referring to....
And what role McDonnell would have had to do with them joining the club.

Maybe Ronald McDonell was the architect of the insulting low ball offer for Brooks which probably has upset Luke and his manager and that is why he was shown the door.

Just a thought, but I would think making an offer like that to a player that loves this club isn't a real good look.

Don't think Luke is going to bother getting out of bed of a morning for somewhere around the 500k mark, I'm sure most people on here would, but then not that many of us are NRL halves either.

600K is about fair value for Brooks based on the $ he’s taken in years gone by and his output. If he wants more it’s over to our fancy new recruitment guru to find someone else.
Don't think he stays here and gets out of bed every morning for 600k either.

He'll get more than that elsewhere.

Didn't think you'd back it up....
Big name signings Api and Papali'i done by Madge (Pre Sheens - Pre WMc)
Klemmer - Through Sheens (From his mouth)
Bateman, You'd think that was Sheens (Not saying WMc wasn't involved) But I would doubt it....

The one big signing WMc had full control over was Mitch Moses - How'd we go there?

Don't doubt he had something to do with a couple kids coming in last year - Maybe Bula and Pole....
But even a broken clock is right twice a day, And I would doubt he'd have suspected them coming on as they have...

Dogs have been in a hole for years after his work ended there....
I don't feel the game will miss him, Nor will we.

The writing was on the wall after the mitchell moses negotiations. Simply not good enough.
