Luke Brooks #167

This might be controversial, but Brooks has every right to be pissed with the club and the way it's conducted itself since he's been in first grade. I'm not saying his form hasn't been poor, just saying it wasn't all his fault and much of the blame was lumped on him.

They look to have turned a corner now and I suspect that when Sheens says things like "We hope he stays" he's referring to Brooks not feeling like he needs a change.

Definitely controversial. He's been arguably the most overpaid player in the league for a few seasons and hasn't delivered nearly to the level we would expect. Our team hasn't been great sure, nor has the organisation around him, but at that coin he should absolutely be producing better.

With Issac Moses being Brook’s manager I don’t think this contract negotiations will be quick or without drama. I also think there is a real chance he will walk. There seems a lot of bad blood after the way Issac Moses carried out the MM negotiations. I guess at the end of the day money talks

I have no idea how the $550k number makes the public forum as it benefits nobody...except maybe that total ahole Isaac Moses who may be trying to drum up outside interest
Id almost(but not quite)give up on Brooks just to punt Moses from our club..like Politis

Yep, with the way halves are valued these days and the lack of them on the market at the moment, I’d say he’s worth about $750k.

Getting him for anything less would be good on our part IMO.
💯 spot on KR.
Somewhere between $650k and $750k with 750 being the absolute max.
I feel strongly Luke would be happy to be a one club player, with his career starting and ending with WT.

$550 is unders imo. I think he is closer to $650 - $700. Especially when half-backs are in short supply at the moment
Yea,

I can't help but look at this and think $550 is a huge slap in the face. We offered him 550k ages ago, the cap has increased a lot since then. 650-700 = the old 550k deal.

Flip it, I can't but help think of 2020, 2021 and 2022.

I am glad to see some hard ball cap talk. Yet I can't see us doing well without Brooks, unless we get a good replacement.

Overall it's insulting. Sheens should have offered 600k at least.

Braith Anasta said Luke Brooks is in career best form last night.
He has 5 try assists this year. Cody walker has 19..

Now I'm not highlighting this to get up him because it's differing circumstances. Brooks has a new team with new attacks and Cody has the same players.

However at the end of the day if you are a 5/8, try assists or tries are the only things you need to do. Halfbacks don't need as much because they have general kicking, organisation etc.

Brooks needs two try assists a game. If he gets that then he gets more money.

It's simple as that

You make a good point. This whole negotiation will be played out in public because Isaac Moses will feed the press info and everyone will bag the tigers for not keeping it in house. Bloke is a cancer

Lets be honest, with the absolute trash he has produced over his tenure at the Tigers his real value isn't worth more than a vegemite sandwich. BUT he is all the Tigers have as an option due to the ineptness of the 2 Muppets running the joint, and he should have been dumped 3+ years ago so the Tigers aren't in this predicament they find themselves in today. Take a shit in one hand or Brooks in the other. With the last month of footy he has put together playing for a contract an offer of $500K is about his value in the NRL. If he signs it'll be very interesting if his form goes back to the usual mud slide he produced on the weekly for years.

Anyone reading this thread who hasn't been watching NRL in the last 6 months... would consider our comments MAD.

This is just so weird. Brooks has had years to find form with us, only really finding it under Ivan Cleary. Many people pointed out that Blake Austin and Mitchell Moses seemed to be a better combination in the early years.

Now 2023, Brooks finds form.
Does that mean it was really the Tigers all along?
Or was it our forward pack? We have a good pack, what if Paps or klemmer get injured? Will we be lamenting a 1mil 4 year contract for Brooks?

Should we just say no because it is Issac Moses? we should avoid that guy like anything.

Unfortunately Brooks holds all the cards. No first grade halfback or hasbeen halfback wants to come and play under Pascoes Barbers. What else are the Tigers going to do? Play Wakeham and Simpkin in the halves next year? Tigers are screwed either way. Completely throwing away the pack we have bought. Pure definition of a rock and a hard place.
