Luke Brooks #167

clun
Fantastic news.
The money he was offered was not halfback money because, frankly, he’s not a halfback.
Also lowballed to let him know, no matter what gets spouted to the media, he’s not in our plans going forward.
The injuries look like they might start to be more of a worry too (although the offer was made prior to his current injury).
3 years, at his age, on decent money with average form and he decides it’s a no from him.
Be interesting to know who’s waiting in the wi
Not fussed...

Hopefully the club has a back up plan though.

Shuster & Sezar?

Offering him a rumoured $550 a year is an insult. The Raiders supposedly offered Wighton $1.1M per year, and he isn't much, if any better than Brooks. I suspect the Tigers will up their offer and he will stay, or they don't want him and we can look forward to a new halves pairing in 2024. I'd prefer to keep Brooks at 5/8 and find a decent half, easier than finding two decent halves. Hopefully Fulton has a solution, though unlikely the club has a plan B.
I’m sure that there’s a plan B, there’s always things going on in the background and I think Fulton will have his fingerprints all over it.

I think this is a misread. I don't think we saw any of the halves we've let go namely Hastings and Madden as being players to lead us up the ladder. I think they saw Doueihi as a remote chance and you can play him elsewhere so we took a small risk and gave him an additional season to prove himself. I think they saw Brooks as the cheap half whose smaller contract dollar can enable us to sign a marquee half.

I don't think they've let players go to retain Brooks hence the small contract offered.
I disagree about Hastings I think he was someone who would’ve lead the club up the ladder & someone who genuinely wanted to be here. We could’ve had Hastings here on a long term deal if we gave them Brooks instead & now Hastings is elsewhere & Brooks is leaving at the end of the year.

Shuster & Sezar?

Crack must be decent over by the bay man....

You'd be the only football 'fan' on the planet that would
1 - Come up with that potential situation
2 - Think it was a good idea...

I don't think it's a good idea.
Options are very limited though.

I don't rate Shuster at all... club seems to though.

I don't believe that to be the case - Or they wouldn't have offered Brooks anything....
And wouldn't be talking about him at all...

Kinda (Exactly) like what they're doing with fan favourite Daine Laurie....

What are they doing with Laurie?
Thought he had no interest from our club / any club.

It does seem like there's just more negotiation to take place...
