Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

It is worth signing someone like Pezet etc now because what if these amazing juniors turn out to be just like some other amazing juniors like Jacob Miller, then we are screwed. It should be the best option for now, 2025 is still two years away, and whoever is the best man then gets the gig.
Yep, can't argue with that.

Best Paid player at a club should be a Game changer.

Brookys is not that at all.
Didn't play a role in the Bulldogs comeback?
Wasn't pivotal in swinging momentum in the Panthers win with 2 40/20s?
Didn't slot what should've been the match-winning field goal against Canberra?
Didn't tear the Cows to shreds several weeks ago?

He may not have the consistency we like and it may not always lead to wins, but to say he doesn't have the capacity to turn a game is disingenuous.

I'm not convinced Teddy was stronger and quicker. Teddy had a completely different style in everything he did so it's hard to compare. Tedesco was a pinball machine style runner, bouncing off and around players with a jerky running style. Bula is an elegant runner, finding space through finesse. IMO if Tedesco tried that at his age he would have been man handled. I know which style I prefer over the long term, and that's Bula's.
Bula reminds me a lot of Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow. Never looks like he's running his hardest, but it just appears that way because of his running style. Graceful.

Not sure how Bula will fill out but at the same age Teddy was quicker and a lot stronger. Although there is no doubt Bula has something special in his DNA, but massive call comparing him to Teddy at the same age
He's way better than Teddy at the same age!

Teddy was an elite athlete but never a natural footballer - and had to learn his craft at Easts!

Jahream is a natural talent who has been far more influential in his handful of games than Teddy was in the same period!

You and a few others are very defensive of anything about Brooks, yet you guys dismiss any other opinion that you don't agree with
what I am saying is you can't judge "market value" until he has or had not signed somewhere else.... that figure will be his "market value" Not what Gallen or Gould think it is....

You can judge his market value on performance but what you can't take into account is the lack of options also available at the same time. That being said it might inflate his value by $50k or so. He was on a backended deal we all probably acknowledge that but over the contract period he probably averages out at $750-800k do you think he's performed to that level over that period of time?
He probably unfairly gets judged as a million $ player because of the nature of that deal. But then you can contrast that against someone like Reynolds who's reportedly on $800k over 3 seasons with the bronco's is the same out put there?
At the end of the day he's going probably for the best for all parties, but where ever he does go he'll need to be next to a more dominant half or else he'll be producing the same as he does here.

it us what his market value is now though, I doubt it will be 300k a season abd he is backing himself to get offered more than 550k a season.
Big risk he may not get offered anything, time will tell I guess.
if he wants to take perceived unders in his opinion then take it at a club with more quality players and set up around him such as Roosters, dogs Eels (eg Brown was to get wiped out). Why sit and take perceived unders at tigers gives him a fresh start.

Kind of have the feeling the club will get desperate and offer him a better deal but we will see I guess

Imo its not unders but i'll say $50k more say $600 is the top of his value, if he backs himself to get more good on him. I don't hate the bloke i think he's been paid overs for his output over the last 4 yrs so if i have my club hat on they may well be factoring that into their evaluation.
He's a 6 always was always has been if he went elsewhere i suspect thats where he'll play and probably under less pressure. No where has anyone certainly not the club or even anyone ive seen on the forum suggested he's worth $300k, and of course its a risk we may move on others and there may not be another offer at that value on the table. He has been able to field offers for some time nothing has really eventuated has it.

i think it is also what club he can get an offer from so for change of scenery purposes and potentially money or same money. If a strong club comes in and offers 550k for a 200 game half he would be mad not to take it.
If benji does want Brooks then I guess the club will find an increased offer
Either way a big risk for brooks knocking back a guaranteed 3 year deal.

Just to get up to date .Are there any actual signings ? Has this Super recruiter Fulton actually signed anyone yet ? Just Joffa and Brooks alone give $1.6 mill extra cap space for 2024 and total cap will go up anyway over 2023
Plenty of Rumours and Suggestions 9000 pages of it !

That’s just wrong though.

Against Canberra he had several line breaks and what should have been a match winning field goal. That’s not game changing?

Against Penrith 2 x forty twenties.

His dead shit teammates are game changers too but they usually win it for the other team.

Did he do it the following week against Gold Coast? No.

But was anybody going to change that game when Talau and Wakes completely shit the bed?

Bottom line is we have too many passengers week in and week out and to expect any halfback to constantly overcome that is asking too much.

Guys like Thurston and Johns would not have tolerated the performances we see from our side, they would have walked away quickly. It’s actually a credit to Brooks that he has put up with it so long. He’s no messiah, but he ain’t the main problem because our roster has been ordinary for about 8 years.
He has put up with it for 8 Years because he is part of the Bog average squad (Coach and Management also) that we have had and paid on potential.

In a better club he would have been moved on.

Again He has a high level of skill and His defence is amazing. Ability to lead any club to victory. No chance.

Posturing by his management to get a better Deal, Isaac Moses is the master.
That could be entirely why Brooks was given a deadline, not out of disrespect, but full knowledge of who his manager is.

There are many people who criticise giving players a deadline, but when you know how their managers drag things out in public, it makes sense to take away some of the manager's posturing power.
