Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Usually agree with you Lauren but I beg to differ on a couple of your points. If the offer reported is correct, it's more than enough for Brooks. His form over a number of years doesn't warrant any more.
And, if I'm dealing with Moses, I'd definitely put a deadline on him. He'll just play the offers back and forth with as many clubs who are prepared to make an offer. A deadline, if stuck with, makes it impossible for him to play that game.
Definitely agree we've stagnated, though.
I actually like Luke as a bloke but he's not worth any more than we've reportedly offered.

Club put a deadline on Tedesco as well....
Worked a treat.

Maybe he goes, Maybe he gets convinced to stay - History will never know.

Im not saying we shouldnt pursue them and i don't doubt that a first grade spot and huge salary would be appealing.
But, when have you known the Storm to release a player from their contract early?
Additionally, if I were advising Fainu (who is already reportedly the highest ever paid teenager in the game) I'd be saying DCE is like 36?, there is constant speculation about Schuster's future. I don't think you will need to be waiting long for your chance at Manly.

Storm aren’t the same storm they once were, there’s still improvements they need in their side and they’ll seek a trade and be interested for a player who they believe is a regular in that squad for someone who’s just depth I believe - we have some pieces we could offer maybe even Nofo who apparently impressed storm coaches a lot with his stint there. We also have a good working relationship with them as we’ve made 2 separate trades and Sheens/Bellamy have history.

Fainu and Schuster are 6’s. Neither would do too well at 7, both kinda play the same. Schuster has more flair with his passing game, whereas Fainu is a better runner of the ball.

I posted on here ages ago that we were looking at either player knowing Manly would have to pick one especially as Schuster was promised the 6 jersey and Fainu can’t play 7, then like 1-2 months later Schuster gets injured has some weight issues and Manly were looking at offloading him and we’re the box seat favourites - since then he seems to be fit and is playing really good footy for them after putting 58 points on the phins and now with there spine clicking and Schuster being FG proven I think Fainu is a chance to be the one to go and Schuster may stay but it’s a sea-saw. By all reports Manly are under some salary cap stress and I think Fulton knows this, paying a young 6 around 300k a year who doesn’t have a guaranteed spot and isn’t FG proven might be the first on the chopping block.

If they lose DCE which won’t be for another 3 years at least I reckon - they’ll go in the market for a 7.

Not saying it will happen or anything - but I do believe both players are gettable and would improve us a lot

If I’m Scott Fulton (which I’m not) but if I was I’d putting all my chips in for Latu Fainu and Jonah Pezet.

These two could be the best partnership in the NRL in 4-5 years they have serious serious potential, Pezet has played some FG and didn’t look out of place. Fainu hasn’t yet but if you’ve followed him you know he has FG ability.

With Api and our forwards packs experience, also having a coach like Benji could mentor them it’ll be massive for not only us but them.

Fainu is behind DCE and Schuster
Pezet is behind Munster and Hughes

Offer them decent money with first grade positions and it’ll be appealing idc what anyone say

Fainu has a good relationship with Fulton and his brother is already with us. Whilst Pezet isn’t cracking the team ever over Hughes/Munster will forever be origin back up and Bellamy will be gone end of next year too.

A potential spine where we can build towards with Api eventually retiring could look like this:

1. Bula
6. Fainu
7. Pezet
9. Da Silva

No brainer for me
That spine could be greatness.
If that is the plan, I’m all in.
We need a better coach than Benji to bring them through though.

Understand your point, I think benji has the ability to be a great coach in this game.

I’ll give him a chance til proven wrong, but I have hopes
Can only imagine what a younger Bellamy or Bennett could do with that spine.
Benji may be a great coach one day, but that’s a fair way off from now I’d suspect.

Averillo was alright at 1 for the dogs.
He could be our 6 and then we can recruit a managing 7... from some where
Averillo goes okay in the centres, so if Starford work out at 5/8 Averillo can take his centre spot.

Conversely, if Starford isn't too sucessful at 5/8, I think Averillo could do a job at 5/8 and also makes a good back up for full back.

Either way I think Averillo would be a good pick up and could be used anywhere in the backs if we got him on a reasonable contract.

Not sure how Bula will fill out but at the same age Teddy was quicker and a lot stronger. Although there is no doubt Bula has something special in his DNA, but massive call comparing him to Teddy at the same age

I'm not convinced Teddy was stronger and quicker. Teddy had a completely different style in everything he did so it's hard to compare. Tedesco was a pinball machine style runner, bouncing off and around players with a jerky running style. Bula is an elegant runner, finding space through finesse. IMO if Tedesco tried that at his age he would have been man handled. I know which style I prefer over the long term, and that's Bula's.

Paul Gallen said the same on 100% footy, that is where his value is
good on Paul Gallen his value is what the market pays him not what P Gallen thinks. If he gets 700k at another club then that is his "value"
As Gould said on 100% footy not many 200 game halves for sale... he will land somewhere
