Our centers 'race to the bottom'...

Its ironic that this discussion has been held the same week that NSW have proven my point.
Fittler picked a broken down fullback as his centre and when he got injured, he replaced him with a hooker.
This is despite the fact that in the NRL currently, NSW had Cambpell Graham and Kotoni Staggs available for selection...two specialist centres who play with class and aggression.
The mindset that centre is not an important position, sunk NSW this series. They squeeze any bloke in there and think they are done. Yes QLD manufactured a centre in the Hammer, but he has the weapon of immense speed to aid him and his defence is surprisingly good. He and Valentine, murdered the NSW centres in both games.

While it's absolutely true that centres need to be good defenders, the reality is a little more complicated.

Every NRL club works on getting overlaps and numbers out wide. Even the best centres can't stop that.
That is not true.
Good centres DO stop overlaps and numbers.

We no doubt have a different point of view on this one, but the 2023 stats show without a shadow of a doubt that our problem is creating opportunities, not finishing them.
Yes we do come from differing points of view and I dont fully agree with this either.
We are creating plenty of opportunities, we arent capatalising on them. Getting into the red zone of opposition sides has not been a problem all year. Our forwards and occasionally the halves are responsible for this.
Whilst I agree that the halves are not developing enough try scoring opportunities, they are creating more than we are posting.
