Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

These young kids being recruited shouldn't be held in low regard for having poor character, just because they're bring labelled as gangsters by some.
A lot of kids are exposed to it through thier earlier school years and on. They just weren't afforded to live in areas where gangs won't relevant.
I like the fact that we might recruit on how talented an individual is and not based soley on thier character. Personal attributes like work ethic and commitment yes, but not if just because they come across like gangsters.
Guide these young guys into making the right choices on and off the field and give them a chance before judging them.

100 percent, just because you come from a “bad area” doesn’t mean they cant make it. Penrith players are coming from the same Western Sydney areas and they seem to be doing alright

Fulton realised after the Turbos, that there was no quality Manly Juniors, so he raped and pillaged the best from Wests and Canterbury, giving Manly a side that regularly features in Finals footy. We have an absolute heap of gun juniors coming through our system,in the next 5-6 years, he simply has to nurture the best of that bunch and identify 1 or 2 elite NRL players and we are positioned for sustained success......FINALLY

“Destroy the club”….😂😂😂…that will only Happen if he doesn’t do his job and recruit quality players….relax…everything Fulton decides on is ratified by a committee which includes board members…..
Ithe committee and board are already doing their best to tear the place apart, Fulton is just following suit

Good character is not a prerequisite for success. Penrith dominates the VB Sh*t Human Index leaderboard every year but they also have a brace of premierships.

I'm at the point where I wouldn't care if we had Matt Lodge, Jarryd Hayne, Angus Taylor and Steve Randall as long as we were a chance of coming 9th again.

He does and I still don't understand why he wants to stay in Melb and not take a top-grade chance for money and exposure. I could understand if their halves were old and close to retirement etc.. but both Hughes and Munster have like 6+ years at least left. I think he will regret it when he retires
Spot on, they only get maybe 10 years in a career, why spend it playing reserve grade. At some point their developed and it's time to play full time N.R.L.

I’m at the point where I actually like the fact people within the club aren’t fond of Fulton just shows he doesn’t operate the way our board/management do which is a positive sign given our recent lack of success this last decade.

Cause seems like whoever they do like can’t ever do the job….. time for Fulton to have his chance and if he delivers us the Fainu brothers well dare I say he’s off to a good start.

Players are a brand now. Unfortunately for us the strong clubs offer the opportunity to win, play for longer and by extension, make more money. Coming to a lowly club and having your reputation smeared isn’t going to help a young halfback. That’s what our man Fulton is finding out.
So true, we're seeing it now, 10 years of incompetence and the place had a stink to it noone of note wanted a bar of it. Now we have to rely on juniors coming through to bring about success to make the place more appealing. But at least we're not St George Illawarra.

Of course Fulton can make matters worse. Just because he's now employed with the Wests Tigers.
There's always the chance he'll overspend on players and neglect other areas including team depth. Players can suffer long term injuries or it may not work for them here - from coaching, culture or whatever.
We could also push out what we consider our recruitment success stories and our junior players in waiting. Therefore making it even more difficult to attract players.
The one thing I find a bit iffy is his current plan to lure all these players from Manly.
They don't look like they're in a healthy place, roster (balance) and cap wise, either.
I just hope what seems like him getting his revenge on them doesn't impair his ability to get the job done for us.

I'm assuming his main task is to build a roster for Benji for 2025 onwards - though we don't have halves signed beyond this year, so he would naturally have this top of his checklist.
So seriously wish him good luck with everything as he's got his work cut out for him.
He’s always looked like a short term solution to a long term goal. I also hope his main task is not to ‘make life difficult for Manly’, but it sure does look that way so far.

I emailed Justin earlier this week saying we should offer Pezet $700k for two years and the storm a $350k transfer fee.

He said he would pass on to football dept.

I also said we shouldn’t up our offer for brooks and we should let him go.
🤣 well played Justin….

I still think Sam Walker is the way to go , having watched him he plays with a bit of off the cuff , but also plays with in a team structure, he appears to have , I see things that others don’t see , good goal kicker , he’s young could be our 1/2 for the next 8 years . GET HIM IN

I just think that Walker doesn’t fit into the structure that Cronk is trying to get the Rorters to play.
100% go for Walker.

I've had a sleep and a think about this and i really wish i hadn't but i did, im actually at a similar point to where you are. I dont care if he's well liked or ruffles a few feathers, just get the job done get players to come to our club because to be bluntly honest thats a challenge.
We will never be successful if we can't attract talent, or if we can't find talent, im sick of saying next year next year rebuild this rebuild that. Just fix the bloody issues because there has to be massive issues as we can't seem to sort our shit.
If Fulton can come in and fix whats broken i couldnt care less if some support staffer thinks he's rude, sometimes that arrogance comes from confidence just get the job done im sick of being a basket case.
If we were successful again Pascoe's hat sales go through the roof everybody wins.

Re Hunt. I’m not disappointed. It’s not as if he’s the best half going around. For me he has contributed to St George’s woes. No idea why Brisbane would take him. I’d be sniffing around there outside of Madden to see if anyone else is upset and wants to move elsewhere.

True, I don't want to be the club that everyone else likes or feels sorry for.
I want to be the club that everyone hates because we are successful!
No more being the toothless Tigers... lets be the club with attitude and the staff, coaches and players to match!
"Win at any cost" mentality should be our clubs motto!
