Benji never did and Laurie wont now.

Yet Laurie can still tackle enough that he ain't our biggest issue even if he takes the field.

Nofo missed 2/4 tackles against Melbourne. Seeing Warbrick stroll past on a wing/centre overlap 4 times was utterly disgusting. Sure it's melbourne, sure they see the gap... but to not plug it was stupid.

Ofcourse we should ensure Laurie is ok in the defensive lineup and next to Klemmer or similar who can back him up. Sadly, I suspect Zero thought as we currently have huge defensive issues unaddressed!

Sheens, fix our Centre/Wing Defense and help whoever is 5/8 actually fit into our defensive lineup. We cannot win conceding 3+ tries a game.

I have no idea why you seem to be blaming Nofo for Warbrick's 4 tries as they were down Tupou's wing,however i certainly agree that our defensive line needs to be fixed as it breaks down far to easily (usually from the edge of the ruck causing the overlap out wide)

Sheens would have Benji defending on the wing during the early years of his career, but that was when wingers looked like Hasem El Masri
 
Looking forward to seeing Laurie have a crack at 5/8th for the next few weeks.

If he keeps it simple he should go ok

Defending - hold the line and make tackles
Attack - setup your outside man

Not expecting him to score 7 tries and setup another 7 but do think he could make a difference in our attack.

I was thinking it was down Tupou's wing. Looked at the team lists and it seemed to make me think it was Nofo's side. But I swore it looked more like Tupou.

I also saw that Nofo had 4 tackles, 2 missed tackles. Tupou 4 tackles with 1 missed. ...

We need to fix this. It was just rince and repeat. Melbourne don't need such help.

Agreed.
Heck I would be happy with 6 tries and maybe 5 setups.

I'm concerned for his defence, but his ability with the ball in hand is interesting. Him playing through the middle will decide if it's a success or not- backing up those offloads from Klem etc- could open up the opposition.

Don’t need to defend if you run a muck , Laurie to have a blinder , I feel he is a sleeper just needed a crack in the half’s
 
Johnathon Thurston went OK for a small fella. I'm not really concerned about his defence we can coach that into the defensive style if needed. What I have been wanting to see is how he goes in unstructured play. We usually have success getting between the red zones; I want to see him capitalise on that and push up around the edge with Bula as the option in the middle. He has the speed and footwork to do what Wakeham can't and when he is on can be great. When he is off he is dreadful as well so we need to keep him in the game.

I don't know how the expeiment will go - but it should have started back in round three when it was clear AD wasn't up to the task.

Will he be the next Munster? No, of course not. What he does have is the potential to capitalise on our go forward. If Wakes can drive us around the park and play a role on both sides of the ruck and Daino plays a more classic 5/8 role there is a potential for success. Our outside backs this week have proven that they can do the job - they're not superstars but put in credible performances. I'm optomistic, but a realist, I don't expect us to win this weekend but I trust that we unearth a capable 5/8 that can fill in at 1 in a pinch.

Our players love their stats. Can't miss a tackle if you misread and tackle the wrong person.

Didn’t we hide Benji at outside centre ? We might move in one place on defensive sets.
