I was referring to what I suspect they were likely trying to achieve through the release. The cap relief is self-evident, but supported by the club using the phrase that the situation 'works for both parties' as well as the scuttlebutt at the time regarding his salary being a major consideration in granting the release.

I may speak on that to my heart's content. And I am backed up by language directly from the club.

And I was calling on Eternal to move on from his broken record argument. Not you and not him as a poster in general.

I'm very specific with my words and context matters in these discussions.

By being satisfied by spending nowhere near our Cap limit (Sheens told us at 10yr Member function) I don't want to continue because the horse is already dead apparently.

Joffa in particular, you would have mentioned in nothing short of 20 comments, all the same, along the lines of 'we let Joffa go and replaced him with ______'

Surely you know that is not the way that these things work. A new signing is not contingent on a release and a release is not contingent on a new signing. The two have nothing to do with each other.

How often does a like for like replacement happen across the league?

People have spelled out, extremely clearly, that this release wasn't designed as a replacement, it was designed as cap relief for a bench player.

Ad nauseum.

Whether or not you agree with the decision is irrelevant, it was never designed as a replacement type signing, so why do you keep mentioning the same, tired, old copy and paste?

Salary cap flaw. Each team spends it, same amount (within 5%) however our clubs is actually worth about $5million and Penriths worth about $12million. But no issue with the mechanism apparently.

I'm not satisfied.

I haven't accepted any actions or enabled anything.

I didn't state my stance on the cap situation and whether or not I agree with that decision.

Perhaps me using the term 'cap relief' was misleading...

Not relief in that it was required or pressing, but moreso an alleviation in the cap so as to not overspend per position (that is, a bench forward).

Perhaps I should've used the term cap redistribution.

And in that scenario, it appears to have been the case.

The goal of all NRL clubs should be to remain competitive and win. I think that’s fairly important to point out after a 74-0 loss.

What you suspect the club is doing is an example of them thinking too far ahead and taking their eye off the present. That present has a huge impact on our ability to recruit and the on field failure undermines the very goal you suspect the club set out to achieve by releasing Joffa.

This club has not earned the right to simply release good players and expect that the cap relief will work out in it’s favour. There is a long history of the opposite actually materialising.

Four losses on the trot and an aggregate score line of 37-150 since releasing Joffa gives Eternal every right to make his point as often as he sees fit. In my opinion.

Telling people to move on, on a public forum, particularly when the club is in such a dire position is a bit rich. We are all here because we want the club to be successful. I suspect if we could move on we would have done it long ago.

- This being a public forum affords me that right. Not to make his point, but to make mention of a the repetitive and monotonous nature of that particular point.

Above all, if you're actually going to go into bat and defend Eternal saying the same sentence, essentially verbatim, upwards of 20 times, over the course of six weeks (which he of course has every right to do of course), then more power to you.

This wasn't a major critique. Nor does it need much more investment of our time. I enjoy the pair of you as posters. We all get a post or series of posts that tickle our aggravation button from time to time and sometimes we engage, sometimes we don't. I often sit back and observe, but this time I didn't.

The Joe Ofahengaue release did not cause a 4 game losing streak and it did not cause a 74-point drubbing. It is old news. It is done. Let's move on.

But of course that's just my opinion.

So it's a moot point.

Criticising the club for not achieving an outcome that they weren't trying to achieve is redundant.

29 is my understanding currently, whether that changes with possible Talau movements I'm not sure.

Flannagan would know from his time there before probably the same reason Griffin dropped him to reserve grade
