Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If the man touching the ball most doesn't pose a threat to the defence by himself, it makes his job of creating space 10 times harder.
A half that can't run shouldn't be an option.
But Pearce would pose a Threat.

Yes he has lost that Speed he was signed for previously. Even then he can still cross the line.

I don't have to say it, Pearce would upgrade Wakeham in every way and hey Wakeham is a reserve grade half.

...

Actually the more I think about it, the more the "Brooks + Doueihi" situation is one we should just suffer and lick. No neither should have been our halves for this year, but anytime a club looses 2x halves they are going to struggle. We should never recruit for both halves being injured, we will never win a comp if we do.

The ideal is to have a fringe half on the bench somewhere. I kinda hate this as that Fringe half can cost a stack. Flip it, they can always go 17th man and someone with enough utility to slot in at Wing or anywhere else on injuries is valuable.

A name that hasn’t been spoke much about recently is Connor Tracey. He played for Newtown yesterday against Wests. He played fullback but looked dangerous with the ball in hand and is lightning quick. In his bio, it said he was 5/8 or fullback.

He is stuck behind some players at Sharks but as a running 5/8, he could be an option and wouldn’t cost the earth.

I'm conflicted. Strike power for sure. But then I watch Nofa defend & think- actually, we need solid defenders.

The perfect blend would be nice.

Weekes is lightning, and off contract. Probably more a fullback, but has been moving around. Brad Parker is the opposite, and also off contract. And I can find an argument in favour for both.

Weekes & Staines on one side- that would be some concerning speed to counter.
I would open the war chest for:
Manu
Campbell Graham
Olam...

Why? because we need to get defense right. Either of those three can at least sort out one side of our backline. The other side can then benefit once we get 2x gritty players in.

I view a solid backline and actually getting defense right far more important then getting the spine right. Once were not bleeding so many points we can start winning.

Why are people getting into a knot over whether some junior from Manly who's untried in first grade chooses to come to the Tigers or not? Hès hardly likely to improve our position over the next 9 weeks and maybe not even next year and by then there'll be some new kid on the block who everyone here will scream we must sign.
So far, he's just that good.

Seems a moot point, Tartak really doesn't want them at the Tigers if he can help it..

Hasn't he signed for pawwa next year?

I appreciate the effort Hastings displayed while at the Tigers. I loved it.

But he is, at best, a limited halfback. No real kicking game, not a runner of the ball. He can organise, and he definitely will fight. But there are reasons, other than the reported personality, he gets to move on so often. He's a replaceable piece.
Unfortunately to date he hasn’t been replaced nor looks like being replaced
