Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Brodie Croft is absolutely not an option, if we are being fair dinkum - which this club rarely is.

A - He has signed a long term deal with Salford.
B - He is a very average footballer which is why he is no longer in the NRL.

If you are in the Storm system, and are ear marked as Cooper Cronk's replacement, yet that Storm team lets you go in favour of playing a journeyman fullback in the 7 (Jahrome Hughes) you definitely aren't the solve for another club. I would mark Brodie Croft as one of Craig Bellamy's few fails.

We have to be talking to Luke Metcalf, who is a great runner of the football. He would definitely be a solve in the 6 position, and as someone rightly mentioned on this forum earlier, thinking outside the box for someone like Ben Stevanovic in the Bears NSW Cup team is a smart play.

I am not a Jake Clifford fan either, but we are fast running out of options, exposing the terrible planning and retention 'strategies' our club is employing.

Whoever we get in 6 or 7 needs to be signed soon with the intent of having a full pre-season with the team.

It all just goes to show what a sh*tshow the WT's are. The fact we cannot even lure players without any NRL experience across to the club illustrates the ultra poor perception out there. And we are throwing big dollars at them....
Culture dramas, poor upper management, a battling wooden spoon club, destined for no great rise in the medium term. Apologies for the glass half empty post but I have just about had enough.

Croft has get out clauses in his contract that can be evoked every single year if an NRL club comes knocking. that is fact. he's pretty much off contract every year if an NRL side wants to bring him across.

I'm not looking at this with rose coloured glasses because we've been linked with him, but he is an improvement on what we currently have. he is at least a threat from a running standpoint, which Wakeham is most certainly not. his short kicking game is also good enough to apply pressure, and he plays down the right edge for Salford, which is where he would play for us if we end up with Latu.

I agree on your Metcalf take, I'd love him and he wants to play 7, but given he's under contract he might be harder to prise away from his current club than Brodie is.

I’ll wait to I read that the Fainu brothers have signed a contract to play somewhere else next year before getting upset about missing out again.
it’s a gamble buying kids on potential but I am glad we are out shopping and hoping we end up getting there signatures as I would prefer rolling the dice on young potential than buying more reserve grade players from other clubs.

I doubt it’s a breach. They’ve declared their intentions to the NRL. Turns out they are being Knocked back, can’t hurt a bloke for trying though.
Someone should get a six month suspension for suggesting it.

Forgot to mention the fine and the hit on the cap for a couple of years.

nothing will happen on the Fainu's while they're in U19 Origin camp. for now they'll be soaking everything up in the NSW system. chances are we'll hear something towards the end of next week. transfer deadline isn't until August 9, there's still reason to hold out hope for an immediate release.

Aug 9…. There is like three weeks of the season left….

Knowing our luck… he would do his ACL and be out all next season…
