Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

If this is true, I'd call the joint a basket case, but that would be an insult to baskets. Lee reckons were committed to our 5 year plan, within the first 6 months undermined the football department by hiring Fulton without consultation, now potentially this. If it's true they're imbeciles and an absolute joke.
I don’t think that the Mole has a real good strike rate. When it was Tony Adams he was a bit more accurate.

Please post the article.

Canterbury football boss Phil Gould has secretly met with axed Titans coach Justin Holbrook in the same week the Bulldogs launched their bid to sign champion Gold Coast forward Tino Fa’asuamaleaui.
This masthead can reveal both Gould and Bulldogs coach Cameron Ciraldo had dinner with Holbrook on Tuesday night in Sydney.

Fa’asuamaleaui is now a free agent because of a clause in his contract that stipulated the deal would be null-and-void if Holbrook was sacked.

The Bulldogs are one of five clubs that have reached out to Holbrook, mindful the former Titans coach’s close association with Fa’asuamaleaui could be a handy bargaining chip in their quest to bring the Queensland Origin star to Belmore.

Holbrook has also been sounded out by two Super League teams, but his preference is to remain in Australia – putting NRL clubs such as the Bulldogs in the box seat for his signature.

It is understood the Bulldogs have yet to table an offer at this stage, but Gould’s meeting with Holbrook is a sign the Canterbury football chief is leaving no stone unturned in his blueprint to give Ciraldo every chance of success.

Holbrook’s manager Chris Orr confirmed the deposed Titans mentor is being chased by several NRL rivals just three weeks after his shock dismissal at Parkwood.

ā€œJustin is a very talented coach whose services will be in demand,ā€ Orr said.

ā€œJustin is the type of coach that players want to play for which is evident from the reaction of the Titans players.

ā€œI am overseas at present but on my return we will sit down and work our way through Justin’s options.ā€

The Bulldogs’ secret talks with Holbrook come in the aftermath of revelations Canterbury owner Arthur Laundy is plotting a $4 million poaching raid on the Titans skipper.

Fa’asuamaleaui is said to be bitterly disappointed with the treatment of Holbrook and should his former coach end up at the Bulldogs, it could be a potential lure for the Maroons enforcer.

Dolphins coach Wayne Bennett tried to poach Fa’asuamaleaui 18 months ago and the Titans captain pledged his loyalty to the club on the proviso a get-out clause related to Holbrook was inserted in his Gold Coast upgrade.

The Titans agreed to that request and Fa’asuamaleaui now has the next three months to decide if he will explore interest from Canterbury and Canberra or remain at the Gold Coast.

Holbrook declined to comment when contacted on Wednesday, but told News Corp a fortnight ago he was hoping to remain in the NRL.

ā€œI don’t know what’s next exactly, but I love coaching,ā€ he said.

A draft needs to happen in some form. I just can't see the anchor that is the RLPA allowing the discussion in any capacity right now.
The draft should have been a non negotiable by the N.R.L, the comp needs one asap. I get we are where we are for our own stupidity but can't see how top level talent going to the top teams for success is any good for the game. Hopefully in the next eba the N.R.L look at bringing a draft in it was what our salary cap was designed to work in tandem with.

With all this talk of us trying to lure Holbrook really has me wondering how long our board can remain. We have been through coach after coach and all for the same results if not worse!! Us looking at Holbrook is just another smoke screen for the board to remain. Winning starts at the front office and our front office don’t know how to win and it just relays down the ranks. Until our board are removed and replaced we will always be the same old tigers in my opinion. Holbrook won’t change a thing just like sheens won’t until mass changes are made
General rule with a moron is to sit back and allow them as much rope as they want and watch them hang themselves, I hope it's true they are looking at Holebrook, the league community will skewer them, the more pressure the better.

Every day I wake up and hope for some good news from this shitfire but like Normal it's only more bad news.
Surely someone with power can see things need address urgently
How Wests Ashfield power brokers can think things are tenable is beyond belief. When will they take action and start sorting the club out. The chair and Ceo are complete clowns without a clue in way over their heads, how Wests Ashfield can think things are looking up is insanity.

I'd like us to add to our roster with experienced, effort players who can fill a void for 2-3 seasons while adding leadership, whilst our young 17-19yos progress.

Braidon Burns or Brad Parker (centre)
Bayley Sironen or Connor Watson (#14 utility who can fill-in at hooker)
Te Maire Martin or Brodie Croft or Blake Taafe (five-eighth)

Then it's who we give the halfback keys to to guide us around the park ...

Jack Cogger or Aiden Sezer or Mitchell Pearce or Lachlan Lam or Chad Townsend (if he falls out of the tree)

Speculation, speculation, speculation ... until we hear & witness solidarity from the club, all we can do is speculate based on media stories.

So why does the club just put up Sheens & Fulton on 9's Sunday Footy Show to talk about their plan, working in unity and dispelling all the speculation! Quite simple really!

They don't have to mention names of potential recruits, just the type of players they are seeking, that they talk almost daily on targets & have a shortlist they have all agreed upon.

I know Fulton likes to stay behind-the-scenes but for the good of the club's image & dispel rumours, he should do this.

Great PR, right there.
And don't the fans deserve that.

I do agree the more pressure the better but as a fan we all expect better. It’s been too long since success, unfortunately I don’t see it for us any time soon. I’ve always loved the tigers and always will but it’s getting easier and easier to just not watch and it sucks

Justin Holbrook is a good coach, a likeable guy and a good football mind but I can say with 200% certainty that he will offer nothing more than Tim Sheens.

I'm not any kind of club insider but let's just say that I've seen both in action and for what it's worth, I think both are very good.

It's time for the CEO and Chair to walk. They've played grubby games all year to save their backsides and get Sheens / Benji to quit.

As fans we deserve a hell of a lot better.
The CEO and chair only care about lining their pockets. They couldn't give two stuffs about the football club. Every move they make is about securing their own spot.
