Bulldogs Coach.

When the club boards sit to discuss the benefits of hiring a particular coach, I wonder what they have listed in their job specs, and how much importance is given to coaching skill?
We actually hired a coach who had never coached. Why? What did WT board see in Benji?
What did WT and Bulldogs see in Ciraldo?
I think possibly the same features or benefits that WT saw in Fulton?
“Can they attract quality players?”
It’s pure speculation, hit and miss.
Prior to Benji starting in his coaching role, he was asked what we could expect to see from him? What type of coach he would be?
I think he said he couldn’t teach these guys anything if they make it to NRL standard then they know as much as he does. He would be a “man manager.” So maybe Benji and the club’s board had different expected outcomes?

Interesting that both Penrith Assistant coaches took on head coaching roles this year. One took on a side that finished 12th last year and has them currently sitting in 15th. The other took on a team who finished 15th last year and currently has them sitting 3rd. One was touted by all and sundry including all the media experts as the next big thing in coaching - no one was interested in the other one.

Yes, Kudos to Webster. He has done fantasticly at the Warriors.

Also a Tigers assistant coach. Notice too, Warriors have pinched next to no one from Penrith. I think maybe a stray tiger has gone there, but no big name. Te Marie Martin maybe... still no one notable.

The Warriors are going Gangbusters.

So the big question. Swap Sheens and Webster, where do the Warriors end up on the Ladder and where do the Tigers end up?

I can't see us being too far higher with Webster IMHO. I do see the Warriors going in the top 8 under Sheens, but not the top 3.

So you’re saying, Sheens, with a (on paper) worse team would get in the top 8…

While Webster, who’s done miracles in a short period of time with worse player ( on paper) wouldn’t have wests going any better?

I must be missing something.

IMHO, sheens is a myth and he’s been found out previously ( see wests firing him) and this myth is again being found out over the last two seasons.

All I know is that Webster has done an excellent job and I expect him to get coach of the year.
And Penrith will definitely three peat, great coach / system, good players, creative, strong defensively.
I personally regret Ivan leaving( the haters will be out soon) as he would have been the type of guy to extract the maximum from our lot.
After he’s won the comp this year do you think there’s any chance of getting him back ?

His roster is about the same as ours,Ciraldo is underachieving and we are massively underachieving.Sheens had his days in the sun many years ago and all he is doing now is counting the clubs money and delivering bugger all.
I’m not convinced Sheens is coaching this side.
If by chance we happen to win a game, who gets the credit? The guy who’s coaching the team or the coach who is coaching the coach?

I see where you are coming from, but I doubt much would be different if they reversed roles. Purely, because we would still have the same CEO, Chairman and Board.
