Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I wonder if he'll even get that amount but hopefully we get a deal done. The thing is we have Nofo on 500k as well. That is a massive investment in wingers who aren't top tier.
I'd like to see livai sauķaru given a run in fg I think he shows some promise he's only young

He is always injured and terribly overpaid,i would not want him even on a train and trial contract.
Luke Thompson is a fake - looked the goods over in the Old Dart but absolutely found out in the NRL !!!
We have lost the plot if we chase this Bozo 🤡
Typical, as soon as we get some Cap spend we piss it up the wall, Thompson will end up playing less games than Russell Packer!
It’s Tino or bust!! Shoot for the stars not low hanging fruit that will fall to the ground and rot.

Lol.. everyone is findin the positive in us signing an unproven kid who nobody else wanted, with a bad reputation for 4 years on $550K.

The ONLY good thing about this is that we can throw more mud at lee and justin when we all realise next year that we signed another lemon for 4 years.

has Mmbye, Packer, Reynolds taught us nothing?
Wait, just pointing something out.

Packer, 28ish year old, last contract before retirement at 4 years.
Reynolds, signed with us at 27 after playing SOO.. While not his last contract, could have been.
Mbye, younger then both but around 25 years from memory. Unlike the two above had "potential" and showed such great work eithic in a side coming 16th! *sic*.

None of these players are anything like Jayden Sullivan, 21 years of age and a player who has played maybe 1 year of first grade. The only commonality is Jayden is coming from a bottom of the table team like Mbye did (except arguably the dogs had made the finals a few years before, and blown the cap).

I do worry about this signing. I also worry that while Benji can coach "tricks" he may not be able to coach "halfbacks". No idea how Jayden will pair with Aiden Sezer.

Luke Thompson- I like him. Hard worker. I assume he'd be 13. The Wests Tigers cannot be 'too professional' after so many years of...let's call it enigmatic behaviour on field.

Has to be over his injuries of course. And if it was a choice between Thompson & Aitasi James + Seyfarth...Thompson is the better player.

If this is true, it tells me that some of our current roster are not as locked in as thought.
If this happens it shows the lunatics are running the asylum

I guess the point is that he can play fullback at a decent standard, therefore increasing his value slightly.

I think the rest of our cap is in decent shape to carry Nofa for 2 seasons. All clubs carry dead wood. Considering you might pay $300k for a winger, he is only taking up an extra $200k - $300k.

Taken advantage of what?

Have you seen where the club is at before his arrival?
A club with money to spend who has trouble recruiting. Why we would be interested in Luke Thompson when he has offered absolutely no value to the Bulldogs on a big money contract and is now on the outer. This is one rumour that should remain nothing more than that.

Thompson is the pay back for the Fainu boys.

This is how the NRL is in 2023..

Even apart from the fact that he is always injured he is ANOTHER forward when they have a backline of low confidence , slow , low IQ outside backs .. they will never get off the foot of the ladder if this doesn’t change..

Off the back of picking Kepaoa in the NRL team… what an ordinary 24 hours… just when you think they are at rock bottom they keep digging

Sullivan on potential - 4 years - should be payback enough.

So frustrating that we've long wanted a decent pack for our then decent backs, now its flipped.

Good pack, horrible backs.

Talent seems to have decreased. There's just not many backs on the market worth signing. Sure, there are some you can take gamble on, but no one that's going to make an immediate impact.
