Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Agree there are some aspects to his game I don't like.

But he takes on the line and passes late which would fix many of our backline probs.

Plus, with Api and himself the hope is more would follow of similar calibre.
I also think he could make the transition to 7. He is the one who leads that team when Nathan is out, I am pretty sure they are just in charge of their sides anyway tbh. So he would just be going from leading one side of the field to both.. a far smaller leap than going from someone who isn't a leader to being "handed the keys" to the team.

I really don’t care if we come 17th or 16th tbh. I’m prepared to take a worse low for a better high.
Yeah-Nah, how long do you have to wait for to get that so called high?
We have a salary to spend the same as everyone else plain and simple, the Bulldogs have decided to spend money to make money now and not waiting 5-10 years like we seem to be doing and praying that we have the players coming through the juniors to make this happen.
Just the way i look at it as we all have opinions!!!

Luai was missed last night. His stepping runs are creative and provide the Panthers lots of opportunities on the left.
I will say on this point, either Cronk or Matty Johns after origin were talking about Luai's tendancy to just run from the left side of the field to the right without really making any metres. He will just palm, and step, and bounce around looking for an opportunity.

They highlighted how well this works for Penrith, yet for the Blues when he was doing the same thing it wasn't having the same success. The reason they gave for this was that he was playing in a system where they have all known each others game for years, they have all grown up playing together so the Panthers team can almost pre-empt the space he will create and just go for it. Support play is probably our biggest problem, so our teams attack in all likely hood could look even worse if we do not address our issues out wide.

Bula will evolve as will Tupou, keep Staines if we can and look at getting Bradman (Someone who has thrived on pre-empting space Ponga gives him). Just those 4 actually give the team a lot... Staines / Best are 2 of the quickest in the comp & both have great support play, Best / Tupou can create space from nothing whether it be through footwork or power (something that Staggs is great with), and they all have a good passing game, also they are all under 23. Bula is freaky in just about everything he does and has played about 30 games of rugby league total in the last 4 years. Before he left the game pre covid he was a centre so everything we are seeing from him is what he has been able to do while learning the role from scratch.

Bulldogs have been in spend money to make money now mode for how long now and how much success have they been having? Sorry, let's go blow all of our cash so we can come 15th guys.. Im so envious of all of their new recruits that have been in and out of first grade faster than our finals chances ended this year.

Cleary's a better player than Luai but Penrith are a better team if they're missing Cleary than they are missing Luai.
Luai would be the best back at our club by the length of the Randwick straight.
Api and him is the foundation of a finals team.
Penrith will keep him, but it's nice to dream.

Chris Lawrence - the king of a dropped crash ball. The king of every game trying to go blind side from dummy half and and getting tackled out on second tackle.

I got kicked off here years ago because I was happy he was retiring in. Good bloke, but no worth the coin.

I actually reference him a lot when dealing with people at work. Great bloke but overpaid in their role.

Mmmm.

Arriba!
??? He dropped them because brooks used to launch them at his chest . As for the dummy half stuff , nothing ventured nothing gained . I’d much rather that than robot footy players who unless someone hands it to them on a platter via the halves skill or play designs they can’t do anything .
Lawrence was a gun . Anyone who disagrees is just a hater .

Any of our UK posters have a suggestion or two for centres from the Super League? I know Gildart was a flop for us/the NRL in general, but if there's another Ellery looking to make his mark down under, it'd be nice if he was doing it for us.
Not really to be honest.
The only player that would be decent purchase would be Tom Johnstone - Winger - Catalan Dragons. Fast, big, strong winger.
26 years old - 6'1" - 92KG - 24 tries this season. Enjoy watching him play. I think he would be really good.
