Soccer Super Thread

When all is said and done Australia always punches well above it's weight when it comes to sport.Soccer is only the 3rd football code in the country behind Rugby League and AFL and only ahead of the KFC code Rugby Union. The women/girls did an amazing job representing a country of only 26 million in a code that is number 1 in most of the world against countries with far larger populations and far more interest than we have in it.
They did themselves and the country proud, kudos to them all
💯 agree with you "They did themselves and the country proud, kudos to them all".

Thank goodness only one instance of soccer hooliganism, where the idiots in Fed. Square in Melbourne broke through the barricades and let of flares.
What is it with these bloody ratbags that they have to copy the fan stupidity from Europe.

Spurs sold out all 3 newly released home fixtures (Fulham, Chelsea, Villa) in under 30 mins this morning (UK time).
The Ange hype is massive
🔥

Spain's captain Olga Carmona learnt of her father's death after the final.
Spanish soccer didn't give a cause of death or when
Unbelievably tragic for her
Maybe someone can correct me ....but was Carmona the player kissed on the lips by the Spanish Sports Minister and grabbed his crotch at one stage

The president of the Spanish football federation, Luis Rubiales, has come in for criticism after he kissed the forward Jenni Hermoso on the lips following Spain's 1-0 victory over England in the World Cup final in Sydney on Sunday night.

Another solid Spurs win, albeit with a few shaky moments. Important to beat the “lesser” teams, something we’ve struggled with for a while now.
I’m sure Ange has the players more relaxed so far. The frantic play seems to have given way to a much more controlled attitude.
I guess that’s Angeball eh !!
Come on Ye Spurs.

Come on Ye Spurs please i nearly choked on me wheat Bix a tin pot club full of wannabe fans who finally get a really good manager after having Mourinho.

Another nice win for u 2 B but to each their own.
Let me tell you a breakfast story. When I was a much younger man and English football was shown spasmodically on Aussie Tv, there was this club called Spurs, who back in the 60s were one of the best, they had a couple of really good players called Blanchflower and Greaves who captured this young Aussie soccer players attention.
I remember watching Match of the Day called by the great Kenneth Wolstenholme and enjoying their dominance.
So I’m not a wanna be fan and am enjoying Spurs getting some positive attention and our own Ange getting the same.
So Can me on Ye Spurs and blow some bubbles right up the you know where !
And don’t spill your food !!!

The Hammers spend a night top of the Premier League for the first time since August 2021!
Well done to this team, really like the addition of Ward-Prowse to help Bowen (and this is from a Spurs fan too - in fact I love the EPL across the board).

#Breaking: Alex Agelopoulos, who invaded the pitch during an A-League Men Melbourne Derby in December last year and threw a metal bucket at Melbourne City goalkeeper Thomas Glover, has been jailed for three months. Agelopoulos was bailed after sentencing and will appeal in the County Court in December.
