Tim Watsford ? Any Truth to this

Whilst most of us will be glad to see the back of Pascoe if and when it happens, his impact on the club financially is not overblown, if anything, it's underrated.

He has taken a club from being in debt, to solvent. Has secured and executed on the funding for the centre of excellence. Has acquired the funding for the upcoming centre at Campbelltown, has been able to produce enough funds to re-establish the junior pathways program in the Southwest, far greater than it ever was before and has facilitated the spending in the football department on a scale the club has never seen.

He has overseen the worst time in the clubs history from a football point of view, has made, in conjunction with the board, some of the worst and most baffling football-based decisions in the NRL era, yet, financially, he has literally transformed the club.

There are multiple variables that must be considered when talking about Pascoe's tenure, one of which is the financial improvement of this club, top to bottom.

Or, would you rather we be in the position we're in now from a football standpoint, but be broke on top of it? That would really be worrying.

Bro at least we have the NFL season around
the corner if and when all else fails haha...

Sorry mate, disagree totally. For a CEO financial management is the easiest challenge if you have a modicum of financial skill. There are other challenges that are his / her role that are much more difficult. For example, changing a bad culture. It's clear our culture is bad and has been for years. It is his job to change it for the better and he has failed dismally. I'll give him credit for improving WT's financials but that was only a part of his job and not the most important part. That's why it's overblown.

I was deliberately only speaking to the financials, all the other criticisms are valid and I agree with them.

Agree, immaterial of the Board, which the CEO cant change, the clubs admin has made embarrassing mistakes that just show a lack of finesse / care in the final product eg the Benji plaque at the COE, the Anzac Day jersey, our general media and website unit lethargy, the meanness in the membership pack costs and his own bone headed appearances that happened in the media, also even his general appearance most times- not that expected of a CEO in a major sports enterprise, and finally the continued saga of a WT homeground.

All that without even a great deal of thought. AND, also as a general principle a CEO should not really be there beyond 5 years- new ways of thinking to approach a ever changing market.

This is true for the corporate world but is it true for sporting organisations?

I doubt players would care hoot who the CEO was or the board for that matter.

Team culture seems set by the standards and professionalism of its coaching staff and senior players........and lately I wonder about this also watching Canterbury with Gould and their high profile signings implode.

Seems these days playing age sportsmen are motivated by a mix of financial incentives and instant winning........they want to walk into a winning team on big bucks.

With that in mind all an organisation can do is recruit Api types till that threshold is reached.

It’s close to impossible these days for an NRL club to “be broke”…The NRL funds each team their salary cap and millions more on top of that…it would take a lot of incompretence …

But he got the COE built which was something the club had been crying out for…

9 years is a long time for someone to be in the job… even at a club that’s had success and unheard of at a poorly performed club like ours… it’s time for a change

I'm not sure but I also don't believe we are a for profit venture. The idea of being profitable being such an important criteria may not be true.

I'd suggest the stakeholders including fans main concern is to win as many games as possible and ideally the premiership.

We need change in upper management. Pascoe surviving this long is a crime even if he has done some good. Shouldn’t be the only one getting the sack if he is, but have to start somewhere and he should’ve been fired a long time ago.

I’ve just done a fair bit of research into Tim Watsford and he seems like exactly what our club needs. Looks like he ticks all the right boxes! Hopefully the rumour is true and we get this weapon on board ASAP!

How come he comes so highly rated?

He has over 20 years of experience in the sporting and events game. He’s worked for the NRL, the ARU, NT Events and now Supercars. He would bring so many new ideas to the club and would really shake things up. Something needs to change!

Interesting, wonder where the tip off came from

Pascoe gets blamed for everything. Gets recognition for nothing. A Director of Football to make football decisions (the role Gould gets critism for as we have no idea of who the CEO of the Bulldogs is..) to work beside a CEO that clearly has the financial side of things in order might be a MUCH smarter way forward.

Or we could get an events guy to replace a finance guy & assume he knows how football works I guess.

Wasn't Mark O'Neil rumoured to be in for that job?

He's done a lot more than that as I pointed out.

I also said it many of us are looking forward to a change.

Im growing tired of responding to people cherrypicking posts and replying to strawman arguments.

So, once more, I was specifically, and deliberately, referring to the financial component only. A part, albeit a significant one, of his job description.
