People on here were having brain explosions about our lack of defence this year. Furner was our defensive coach so he didn't do the job. He's gone. No biggy. We have Morris coming and Farrar still here. What's the problem?

Maybe they were out practicing the 200 passes and left the tackle bags at home.

1 - Benji decides who his assistants are. This story is BS!
2 - If Benji was over-ruled, the only people with the power to do so would be Pascoe or the Board. I doubt Benji would put up with this!
3 - Benji said one thing to Furner but backflipped (maybe if someone else is lined up).

Maybe has something to do with player managers wanting a broom through the assistant roster.
I doubt if we will ever know for certain but there will be a lot of speculation as always
Who knows what the truth is in relation to all the moving pieces but certainly you would have to question how long any coach would put up with being overruled and blindsided as has been the case with Benji in recent months. They have got Morris sitting there, at this point nothing would surprise me.

Im with you Colin... A performance deficit has been identified here in David Furner.
Yet. ... Manly did something very smart, with Anthony Siebold who still had 2x years of coaching (heck Failed coaching) experience under his belt. They Hired Jim Dymock and Shane Flanagan as assistants.
Furner, was the only other experienced coach. Other then Tim Sheens that is.
He has also failed to be our defensive coach. Failed utterly, our structures are not up to scratch.
Something in the way this was done Reeks of a board hatchet... either David Furner was found to have found doing something seriously Wrong... OR a player/star got pissed at him OR David stood loyal to Sheens and Lee H got rid of an enemy.
I can't decide if this is good or bad. The thought that keeps going in my head is "new wine for new wineskins". Maybe Benji/Farah/Morris need to just run a modern team. Still firing people like this won't attract many to our organisation, I truly hope we have someone good lined up as tacking coach (Vacant for last 10 bloody years).
