Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

For 30 seconds you might but going to work everyday in a dysfunctional workplace wouldn't be in anyone's interest add to that the fact he'd never represent NSW again may also be a factor.
Yep. Plus the pressure of being the player on that amount of money (I'm looking at you Moses Mbye and Luke Brooks). It's a bad deal if true. I rate Luai but I reckon even he would admit he isn't worth that much.

I agree with you. Wise move would be staying at Penrith. Just making the point that if someone could guarantee you an extra 2 million dollars for the next four years work without having to relocate you would consider it. Regardless of how horrendously dysfunctional the other work place is.
$500K/year extra?
Over the top of Penriths $800K?
Even we aren’t that dumb.

I figure that would be the number if we were going to make him the highest paid player in the game? It would be horrendous. I can see a situation where the Tigers somehow end up bidding against themselves.

And yet every player you hear talk about the place says how much they love the joint, including Api and Bula who both could've got a start at many other clubs but chose to extend with us.
I can believe them or believe the echo chamber. It's a hard choice

Ignore the echo chamber, they are not only dumb, they are ignorant as well. Would not know a footballer if they fell over one. If Gasnier, Raper et.al. were available they would say that they are not worth the money.

Cleary didn’t just start playing brilliant out of thin air. The way he played the first 60 was in stark contrast to the back end 20. What was he waiting for a bigger challenge?
Cogger had a huge hand in the way Cleary finished that game off.
He was waiting for the game/game plan to dictate attacking footy. The first half he was turning players, with the clear intention to work over the Broncos middles. Him attacking/running wouldn't work whilst the Broncos are fresh.
The first 20 of the 2nd half he had few attacking opportunities. Hard to show any attacking brilliance whilst watching Ezra Mam run past you.
Then finally he got some good ball off the back of JFH and Leota returning to the field. Without Luai and to a lesser extent Yeo he would have known it was on him to step up. Realistically it would have been on Cleaey to step up even with those 2 on the field.
Others helped. Cogger played an adequate 2nd fiddle role and Crichton was brilliant as Cleary's go to when there was nothing on through the middle. But I don't believe having Cogger instead of Luai was in anyway the catalyst for Clearys efforts (beyond Cleary knowing there was noone else through the middle that could deliver what was required).

2 ways to look at it - having the other fellas out of his way a bit let him do what he did I feel…
I love Yeo as a player - but I feel he touches the ball far to much - too often…
Drives me nuts in Origin.
Was glad the put him at prop last out in origin - gets him out of the way a bit more than at 13.

I think Cogger straightened them, and Cleary roaming switched him on - some momentum (JFH and Leniu back on) and getting the best of the back 3 young blokes out of position got him skiing down hill a bit and the Broncs were gassed.
- Those first stints in D came back for them

Perfect storm from a few angles…
- Cleary too good not to make them pay for it…
Agree with all of this, even Yeo being a hindrance in Origin. Yeo is one of my favourite club players to watch but in Origin the line speed (or lack of enforcing 10m) is too quick to have a link man at 13.

Recruitment update!

Club have been keeping tabs on Bradman Best for a while I posted a couple of months ago he was our main recruitment target along with Olam as the plan is to upgrade our stocks within the outside backs.

Storm threw a potential Olam for Blore trade up - however with Blore recent rise in form to end the year and Olam’s defensive struggles to end the year it seems we’ve denied that deal.

The club have been monitoring Best for a while and I posted on here that Best’s management put the notion that deals would have to start at around 700k for him to entertain leaving Newcastle. Which was initially scoffed at - however his form to end the year and most especially his SOS performance has switched us to engage in those talks and will most probably offer anywhere in the region from 700-800k.

I wouldn’t get too excited though cause I’m hearing Best is leaning towards remaining at Newcastle but we’ll make them sweat.

Ezra Mam will remain at Brisbane - Dragons want him badly but he’ll ink a new deal pretty soon.

Luai is definitely being circled by Benji - however the club are eager to see Sullivan’s development and ability through pre season before putting a formal offer towards him.

Thanks teddy23. That clears up a few rumours swirling around.

There is rarely any anything decent in this thread, and or this forum these days, just full of negative, whining, whinging, complaining, name calling, bickering, nonsense. who would want to support this club if its a cross section of our fans.

can’t believe people aren’t happy with back to back wooden spoons, eight wins out of their last 50 games and missing the finals 12 years in a row…

There's a core group who've swamped the forum who walk around with a constant cloud lingering over their heads. They must be friggin' pleasures to live with.
Man you are so right. yesterday there was even a bloke bitching about the review into the governance of the club. Can you imagine it? What kind of depressive lunatic wants things to stay the same as they are?
