2023 Israel–Hamas war

Im well aware, they received 43% of the vote 17 years ago, but Gaza and Palestinians would exist without Hamas, and they would have better lives.
My point was GAZA has been too infected with Hamas. 50% of the place is under 18. A generation has grown up learning to stab a jew and chanting death to the jew in pre-school. Nazi party was the German State but not all Germans were Nazis. I get that not all Palestinians are HAMAS but its too intertwined to separate at this stage. The place needs a radical overhaul to weed out the evil embedded in the whole joint. Hiding munition dumps in hospitals/schools/residential areas is just an example where the State is just relentless in dragging all Palestinians into harm. Total eradication of Hamas has to be the only end goal. Israel will not stop.

Probably true and agree with your last sentence and IMO that is the last kernel of hope. That Israel can eradicate Hamas, the same way ISIS was wiped and then hopefully some other more moderate legislative council isntalled. For gods sake the PLO are/would be better. The only hope is a more sane Palestinian body controls Gaza, simply doesnt fire rockets into Israel, Israel feel more secure, loosen the noose on Gaza, the general population feels the noose loosen and associates it with the new governance, learns a lesson.

Extremely unlikely but the only hope.

your point?
You have the fanatics of Hamas with their prosecution of terror on one side killing innocent women and children. On the other side you have Israel illegally occupying Palestinian land on the West Bank in contravention of international law according to the UN. Peace will never be reached.

The interview with that poor little boy at the hospital who couldn't have been more than 3 or 4 only confirmed what I long suspected. He should be playing with his toys and mates but even at that age he said with such passion - I hate Israeli's. Israel appears not to understand they are providing the ingredients for the next iteration of Hamas.

Violence will always only lead to more violence which is something that the world has never correctly learnt.

The insanity of it is, that Hamas was an Israel/U.S construct to act as a buffer against the PLO. Once again, the worm turns and bites these bastards on the bum! This is pure evil from all involved - when women and children are caught up in what amounts to ethnic cleansing, then the world should unite to stop it. And yet only China has openly said that they are prepared to offer aid to Gaza. Who would have thought?
Wouldn't it be great if Australia had a leader who was actually prepared to stand up and say 'enough is enough'! Forlorn hope. We haven't such a leader since I don't know when.
I couldn't stand the man, but Abbot was possibly the last leader who was prepared to actually voice what he thought was right.

That's often the problem.

Al-Qa'ida was initially sponsored by the US and ironically used in Afghanistan.

As for Australia the uselessness of politics is bipartisan due to us being a vassal state of America.

It will get worse with the subs.

I suppose the only way Israel could completely eradicate Hamas is with a total occupation and destruction of Gaza.....and no right of return for Gazans. Even then some Hamas will survive. While any building stands it will be a Hamas holdout.

That is achievable at great Israeli cost .........but perhaps not politically.

Anyway, Israeli military planners will now have plausible deniablity not to go ahead with a massively costly Stalingrad type operation with the US baulking at its political cost regards the global south.

Besides the Hamas atrocities were probably designed to provoke a massive uncalibrated Israeli response with their view to bog down Israel in street battles creating a situation of hundreds of thousands of civilian casualties in order to garner world opinion backing the creation of a two state solution.

And if a two state solution moves forward following this that is also a problem in that it follows such a disgusting terrorist attack against Israel.

Should've been sorted some time ago.

Zero chance of two state whist Hamas exist. It is effectively 2 states now but Israel cant let Hamas off the leash.

Cannot agree more, and than we have to accept that our options are:
- accept Israel's casualties and do not fight back - > "turn the other check"
the implication is that in nearly 99.99999 .. % of the cases the attacker will not stop, and this closes the loop, the attacker will kill more, and there is nothing to stop it except the victims:
- die or
- surrender.
- fight back, there will be more casualties on both sides, the question is when will it will stop. The options are the attackers:
- are eliminated or
- surrender.

Sadly, in any predictable case, more casualties are inevitable, and there is no one to break the loop of violence.
Potential deal breakers are the Arab countries/Iran, as any USA involvement will not be accepted by too many players.

Pro- Palestine protestors blocked the entrance to Hat Rd Pine Gap base in the NT from dawn until 10am. The small group of protestors, which included Indigenous and Jewish members of the Alice Springs community, wanted to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people. They want the Australian Govt to stand up and tell the Israeli Govt to stop bombing civilians in Gaza. The drum beat appears to be getting louder.

Yeah,

They are making a classic military mistake of being drawn into a battle that doesn't suit them, in a reactive way.

The IDF is built for low intensity conflicts as well as defence/counter-attack type situations using air superiority over open terrain. They may not succeed in street battles against a committed enemy.

Wonder what happens if the civilians don't leave......Egypt doesn't want them. If they end up in Egypt and launch attacks on Israel what then.....is Egypt in.

Interesting that a massive military aid program is being sought by the States for Israel........against whom, 40 000 paramilitaries. We are always tought how strong the IDF is.

I wish it was 2019.

Seriously a lot to digest. It's a global situation.
Biden has obviously green lit this all
