Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Olam will be great. We need him. Much better than any of our backs.

Blore is lame. I don’t get the hype. It looks like a tall version of Bruno Mars and is remembered for hitting Nathan Brown hard. That’s it.
Maybe you only remember him for hitting Nathan Brown.
He was also the stand out junior forward of his age and was considered the best forward coming through the Penrith system in his time. His junior resume is more impressive than the likes of Sam Fainu who is being talked up as a great signing for the future of our pack and better than Utoikamanu who many see as a future captain.
At NRL level he has consistently shown to enjoy the physical contest and an ability to offload, break tackles and break the line. He is also a hard working defender with great communication. He has managed this despite multiple injury setbacks.
Additionally he is said to have natural leadership qualities and highly professional attitude.
He is not lame. He isnt repeatedly breaking down with the one troublesome injury that he just cant get right. He is one of many examples of a developing body taking time to adapt to the demands of professional sport.
Now that he is physically fully developed he should be moving past his injury setbacks and ready to deliver on the promise he has been showing his whole life.
Well, that is at least my take on Blore.

The usual Benji bash by Peter Peters. Hmmm wonder who feeds him all his info, If accurrate, at least we can prepare for a Staines announcement (which means a departure by someone else).
Thanks for the link champion @BlackWhiteGold.
Just listened to it.
Zorba lacks anything original in his "insights."
Regurgitated what the press has already said.
Repeated his criticisms of Benji.
Just a radio waffle to get reactions and ratings, of sort.
I'd guess the "history" of Fulton and his "Godfather" underlie everything.
His vendetta means nothing except reveal his own colours.

Keep being Benji, Benji - it will drive these critics crazy.

Funny thing is while Peter's said he was attacking Benji - the things he criticised Benji for sounded like compliments to Benji and criticisms of Scott Fulton.

Benji - Jack of all trades - well yep that's what a Head Coach does bits of everything to oversee their club. Didn't tell every single person in the organisation he was going to Melbourne to meet with a player- yep tick don't talk about anything till you need too.

The 2 other specific criticisms were that we paid too much for Aidan Sezer and Charlie Staines - who is responsible for that piece - Scott Fulton as head of Recruitment for the NRL side.

It depends on the relationship between Blore and the club. If the club has any intentions of retaining him, and he of staying, then letting him experience footy elsewhere and essentially telling him he is surplus to requirements will ensure we will lose him beyond 2024.

It also seems Melbourne want to be rid of Olam and his salary. I don't believe they would go for a loan deal as they would still be stuck with his salary in '25.
If Melbourne really want to let him go and there are no other team interested,
At least they wouldn’t be stuck with him in 24
If there is no one else wanting him we should have the upper hand in negotiations.
And let’s face it Olam could be happy living in Melbourne and doesn’t want to leave.
He holds all the aces.

Anyone with me in that Nofa could be a viable option for Roosters, Dolphins or Eels if we pay 50% of his reported $500k for the next 2 seasons?

Roosters & Dolphins both have 2+ spots available in top 30.

Roosters have lost a lot of outside backs but recruited Dom Young & promoted Pauga.

He could be a starting winger at Dophins battling with Edrick Lee & Bostock & Jennings.

Eels would need to release someone but still have the same hierarchy who wanted him in ‘21.

Maybe he meant we PAID overs for Staines when we signed him, not we are PAYING overs for him, going forward?

Didn't listen.
Hope he's sticking around and we're moving on some other dead wood.

Roosters and Dolphins no. They both already have excellent wing depth.
Eels, yes. As you say if they were to move someone on.
However, im not sure we are finding a better winger than Nofoaluma for <250K. I would like to see who that option is before thinking it a good idea.

That should be the clubs slogan. “Forever moving on dead wood”.
