Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not that I won’t Olam but if we have to why wouldn’t we try and organise a loan system like they did with Harry Grant
We loan them Blore
They loan us Olam
for 2024.
They still pay Olam & we pay Blore.
If Olam is not the player he was we are not stuck with him for more than the year.

And if he turns out to have a career season and scores 20 try’s, we try to keep him, despite it being a one year loan deal?

Bellamy is smarter then us, yet I think the trades have worked in our favour.

Harry Grant for example did wonders here. Really Bellamy gave us his problem which brought on the Smith retirement.
We sent Nofa down and honestly he came back a far better player. Not saying Keep Nofa/hes worth 500k, I am saying he improved in defense.

I agree, beware Melbournians giving gifts but so far these trades have been in our interests.
Yeah I can’t agree with the bolded part of your post. How is he a far better player? Defensively not much has really changed. Nofo did nothing for Melbourne and I’m pretty sure they weren’t really impressed with him either.

Sezer was offered at $150k tigers sign him at $200k. 😂

This appears to be a criticism of Benji but geez that is a great signing. $200k for a back-up half is good business and lot's on here think Sezer will be getting plenty of game time.

Those arguments he makes about Benji just sound stupid. I hope he is right that we've signed Staines as well because Stains is as good as any outside back on the marketplace for next season. I prefer Staines over Olam.

Completely disagree. Nofoaluma has regressed since his stint at Melbourne (and I'm not even a Nofo hater) and we did Storm a favour by getting some experience into Grant. Sure he played well in his time here but in no way would I say he did wonders. There was no lasting benefit for the Tigers having Grant for that season.

It depends on the relationship between Blore and the club. If the club has any intentions of retaining him, and he of staying, then letting him experience footy elsewhere and essentially telling him he is surplus to requirements will ensure we will lose him beyond 2024.

It also seems Melbourne want to be rid of Olam and his salary. I don't believe they would go for a loan deal as they would still be stuck with his salary in '25.

I don't think his arguments are stupid, certainly petty. Whilst I don't disagree with anything Peter's said it is really all minor details.

As you say Sezer on 200k is fine, but if he truly was shopped at 150k then it is a failure by the club. The criticism (if true) is valid even if not a massive issue.

As far as Benji flying to Melbourne to negotiate with Olam without informing the club. It really depends on who was/wasn't told and are they preliminary discussions or serious contract negotiations. Bit of a nothing story.

I'm fine with Staines as short on outside backs but he is probably not a first 13 player at many other clubs. The criticism wasn't that he was signed him but that he was overpaid. Unless there is some word on his salary and who is let go and the circumstances of that release it is too early to assess.

Olam will be great. We need him. Much better than any of our backs.

Blore is lame. I don’t get the hype. It looks like a tall version of Bruno Mars and is remembered for hitting Nathan Brown hard. That’s it.

Depends on if the $150,000 per season was for a contract over 2 years or the $200,000 was to accept a one year contract. Then it makes a bit of sense

Does anyone think Fulton would be that dumb to tell his father in law, or whatever Zorba is, inside info when Zorba is on national radio? Would seem a bit too obvious wouldn’t it? Anyone considered the possibility Zorba is talking out of his arse?
Not when he has already(months ago) ranted about Benji and his dysfunctional relationship with Fulton and prefaced his statement by saying "I am Scott Fultons Godfather"

This guy in 2023 equals our best try scorers at 6 tries.

Olam is from Simbu Provence, we should sign him. That's the PNG Highlands and they are Strong as dudes there. Physically tough, strong dudes. Like "CARRY MY CAR " strong...

Melbourne a top 4 team who have guys like Warbrick coming through want to make room.
Do it. We see 1 off season and in that he equals our best in the back line (ok that ain't saying much).

Finally a reason to look forward to 2024
Bellamy is one of the best coaches in the nrl because he knows how to scout talent and he also knows when a player is on the slide.

My first thought every time. It's almost far too obvious.
