Cricket Season Thread

No cricket till boxing day . Yes I know there's BBL but not much interest as the teams being made up of players from every state and a few different countries don't represent anything in particular just a made up franchise name . I know NRL is also players from any area from NSW and QLD and NZ and Pacifica but NRL is tribal and you grow up following your tribe and always will .
I do understand given about 35% of Australians were ardent cricket fans that T20 and BBL has opened up the market to millions of more fans and whatever the media pumps will grow and much more $$$ come into the game . For me I will enjoy a T20 which Australia is playing another country but that's it !
Meanwhile just watched the 1st session of our Aussie women playing India in Mumbai
4-103 at lunch .last week the Indian women trounced the English by 347 runs so they will be hard to beat on their home deck
Cant wait for the NRL season Go Tigers !!!

Yeah I watch the Sydney teams in the BBL bcoz I’m from Sydney/NSW. But ya correct there’s little feeling with it, maybe after another generation or two it will be more tribal like supporting the Tigers in the NRL. Ya gotta start somewhere like when the add new teams to comps I guess, their supporters are new the teams new? I don’t know bcoz the only teams I’ve supported were pre-existing, I grew up with them, magpies, Oz cricket, NSW. I guess the closest I get to it is when we merged, I wasn’t happy at first but it was still my club.
Anyway did ya see the diamond duck in the girls cricket then? Rare as.
And that one that got Perry was a good one.
Sydney is about to bat.
Edit that: it’s the bloody renegades again the top of their jersey is pinkish and has trapped me once be before. Sydney play tomorrow night.

I was at the Melbourne WC final and Starcy got Baz with the fourth ball I think, and I had actually said to a mate who’s not the biggest cricket fan, watch this first over Starcy is likely in the first.
He made look like a genius, and it also set the tone for the day. The Kiwis looked outclassed after that and we just steamrolled em. It was so obvious we were gunna win we all started having bets on the next to be out, their score and who’d get them. Great day, thanks Starcy.

I'm sure BBL will grow .what about Frazer McGuirk .Might be the new Warner

I'm 76 and My company transferred me to UK 1973-1976 got to see 2 world cup games live in the first ever ODI world cup .Australia beat Pakistan at Headingly and West Indies beat us in final at lords both games 1975.
We would have won final but we had 5 run outs Viv and Clive kept throwing down the stumps

I was a bit young for that.
And yeah I seen a bit of Frazier tonight but I let Mrs BF watch a movie, and I will get the big tv for the next two Sydney games this weekend with no complaints.
Ya gotta pick ya battles.

What about the girls, now 8/189 ?
It’s gunna be tough coming back from that but we’ll see after both have bowled.
 
Usman has been charged by the ICC for wearing a black armband during the first test (in support of civilians in Gaza).That does not go down well with me as it is a very heavy handed approach to him making a passive statement in support of fellow human beings and is not political imho

Totally agree .Well done Uzzie ! Imo its the ICC who are being political
Thank heavens its only a reprimand no fine or suspension
 
Tom Curran the English import at the Sydney 6's gets a 4 game ban for running on the wicket pre game and really badly intimidating the umpire .Hey I thought about the England "fair play " and all their moral victories LOL
 
By the way I've never seen our Aussie women play so bad ,dropped catches ,midfields
They are ok except for th see batting ,bowling and fielding !hope they pick up their act
