All rumours but his supposed interest in big contract play for Schuster is a dubious and poor decision.

Daily telegraph and others with Fulton love will be onto the club but he made his position completely untenable by slagging Benji and leaking stuff. You simply can't have him in the club, even if he's doing his job well.

There's not much to suggest he was doing his job well. Luai signing seems all about working with Benji, not who the manager is.

Ultimately recruitment managers are best when they're able to identify young talent. We don't really know how effective Fulton was there but he was just way too big a liability with his criticisms and leaking to keep him either way. Get someone who understands how to function within a club.

Richo wiping the slate clean for a fresh start and showing everyone who is in charge now. Decisive action being taken to support Benji as well.
It’s a positive and constructive move. The club must find harmony and support for the one path, everyone must be on the same page, otherwise we aren’t going to move forward as a club or a team on the field.

Do people really think that players that have a deep held connection with the person that scouted them as an 14 year old for the rest of their life, a relationship that trumps all else? Sure they will remain mates, and be appreciative for what the person did to help set them up, but now the Fainus are all in an nrl squad, on long term deals, and they're developing relationships with the coach and team mates. Does anyone really think they'd just run off after a few months at the club so they can hold hands with a junior recruiter?? It would also severely damage their reputations if they did want to walk.

Not one mention of Richo in that Telegraph article … times are changing with the way the media treats this club…

Cant say it’s good news Fulton is moving on as it’s further instability they don’t need …but Lee and Pascoe went about hiring him the wrong way and got Benji offside from the beginning … and it appeared that they had different ideas on how to build the team,,. never going to work so time to move on …

I see it as creating stability. There was never going to be a level of trust between Benji and Fulton in the short term and Fulton was isolated with Benji surrounded by his own people. Cutting the cord was the only decision.

I'd say Richo has done that for self-preservation knowing our inept board. He would never be fired if rolling every 6 months.

Exactly - if all these young guys coming through starting sooking over certain people they have been involved with being moved on then i really don't think they have the mental toughness to play NRL.

SMH reporting that we've instilled a three-person recruitment committee comprising Richardson, Benji and Matt Betsey.

Betsey is obviously only interim at the minute but it gives you some insight into the emphasis on pathways and local juniors. Richo is pretty big on that as well and Marshall will benefit from Richo's experience. no one there is going to be bowing to pressure from player managers, unlike the previous admin.

I also think Richardson is going to become Director of Football when his six month tenure as CEO wraps up. given he's this entrenched in the day-to-day football operation I'd say it's near certain.

I would expect that the media fallout to be short. Quite possible that Fulton received a payout and was required to sign a NDA.

The article I read also mentioned “other staff changes” as well. I note that Richo did say something about changes in the media as well in his original presser.

I wonder if media will reach out to the former chairman for comment? That should be entertaining.

it's not a step down in the way that he sets up clubs.

at Souths the club is run much like an EPL or NFL franchise, where the Director of Football reports directly to the board, not the CEO. the football department and administration are two completely separate entities.

Blake Solly has nothing to do with Souths' footballing matters. Mark Ellison is effectively the 'Football CEO'. both report to the board and neither come in contact with one another.
