sadly, I agree. The aim is to start with moving the date to 29th February.IMO whatever date Australia Day is commemorated will be known by some as Invasion Day though.
No win situation I think.
You seriously sound like one of those shock jocks on late night radio talking absolute trashIt won't be long before we're told Australia needs to change its name because it reminds some of European settlement.
Where will this BS end lol.
Sounds like you need a job.The next one I'd go for is getting the Union Jack off the flag. Maybe then Charles off the coins, crown land is a funny one. Hadn't thought about the name for the country though...
Haha. Great times!!Mum and dad had a shop on Parramatta Rd Croydon... There was about 10 shops, lots of residences /lots of kids with the lane at the back... We'd always have a big fire there.
Next to what's Korean BBQ now.
Kids and mini explosives lol 💥
I'm not sure if you're serious or not.Surely there's no greater symbol of indigenous dispossession and land theft than lamb. Sheep were one of the greatest economic drivers of the occupation of the continent. Mobs and mobs were set loose on the country over running hunting lands, destroying yam gardens and fouling water ways. Resistance to that resulted in large scale killings... And it's amazing how easily people have been blatantly programmed to associate lamb with Australia Day by commercial interests. Not very unifying for vegans, vegetarians, people who don't believe in killing animals for food and those that just don't think it tastes great.
Hopefully the only comment i will make is Australia day should be celebrated on the anniversary of when we became an independent nation. However you could argue is that day when we got independance or the day that the British could not overrule us (Privy council) or even the day that is still to come that a foreigner is no longer our titular head of state.
What about the poor old swaggie minding his own business camping by a billabong.Surely there's no greater symbol of indigenous dispossession and land theft than lamb. A day after we change the date. Whingers needs something to whinge about.Time frame?
And conspiraciesA day after we change the date. Whingers needs something to whinge about.
Absolutely, the landholder (economically powerful) who probably paid f all for the land, or stole it, called the police on a homeless (economically weak) for stealing a sheep, causing him to drown himself. What about the poor old swaggie minding his own business camping by a billabong.
Btw, what’s being allowed to happen? Someone’s been watching too much Sky News.
under a coolabah tree? 😉What about the poor old swaggie minding his own business camping by a billabong
Imagine suggesting to change the name for Queensland! There'd be a civil war. The Victorians might go for a change.Don't watch Sky news.
It was a hypothetical. I said they may be someone suggesting it, some discourse.
Countries and cities changing their names isn't uncommon.
Often after colonisers or occupiers are removed from power.
Australia is a European name.
So logically, if it is decided Australia was illegally invaded and we gradually cancel reminders of European settlement why is a name change not possible?
Aboriginal people could put forward alternatives.
Can think of numerous name changes for countries and cities since WW2.
That's funny. In all likelihood change will all come at once. When we become a republic we'll get a new flag and take that opportunity to move Australia Day to the day we truly become an independent country. Probably 10 years away
Sheep would have been the business to be in ,in the early days of settlement. Government gifting land, flocks growing. Those farmers may have planted weedy grasses particularly in semi arid regions which are somewhat of a nuisance today, but not as bad as what we‘re doing today. Digging up the country and shipping it to China.Absolutely, the landholder (economically powerful) who probably paid f all for the land, or stole it, called the police on a homeless (economically weak) for stealing a sheep, causing him to drown himself.
Agree with you on what? I haven't read all the dribble on all the pages. That's funny.
So your agreeing with me lol.
Needs to chill - has work tomorrow!Sounds like you need a job.
