2024 Pre-Season

If Shane gets back to me I will share it with everyone.

I may need a spiritual medium to send it you from the other side I will be inhabiting.

Tommy and Dallas distracting me.

Hahah Justin Horo...where the effs he been?
Nothing really there saying him and Benji dont get on.
A coach got up a player...shock horror
Hes been given a chance it appears.
Weve heard no drama for al,most 2 months...even if we do read trash NRL media, we should ... @GNR4LIFE ...we should what?

I'll trust Benji...if he wants to keep him or if theyre trying to offload him, whatever they want theyll achieve

That's how I see it. I'm certainly not saying Karen is wrong, she may well be right, who knows, but I wouldn't be jumping to that strong conclusion over an article.

Here's some stats that we have to improve on for season 2024:

TIGERS

2023

Metres gained
: 1404 (10th)

Metres conceded: 1465 (5th)

Tries: 2.75 (17th)

Tries conceded: 4.96 (2nd)

Linebreaks: 4.00 (16th)

Linebreaks conceded: 5.75 (3rd)

Completions: 77.96 (13th)

2022

Metres gained
: 1293 (15th)

Metres conceded: 1531 (1st)

Tries: 2.63 (16th)

Tries conceded: 4.92 (2nd)

Linebreaks: 3.54 (14th)

Linebreaks conceded: 5.71 (2nd)

Completions: 77.82 (10th)

Wow, this basically shows that our meters gained improved by only 100m.
While were still letting more meters be conceded then gained, it was even enough that our forwards were doing some kind of a job.

Far out, if we punted Brooks instead of Hastings we would not have come 17th.

If his defence was in order he plays centre for Australia. What was that game at LO when he went beserk in the second half, drawing, passing, setting up tries at will. Can you imagine if he had Koroibete's heart?
If he had Koro's heart and lack of fear he would probably have a lot more wrong with him than 3 ACL's.

Yep, we've all been saying the same thing for so long.

If he could tackle, if he could defend.
Lots to work on for him.
Otherwise, it's game over I think.
Demps, I appreciate your realism and I know you were a backer.

AD loved our club, but unless he somehow changes and becomes the next Damien Cook. It's game over for the NRL for him.

We have to be more ruthless.

You can’t give guys contracts just cos they love the club. Otherwise, all of us would be getting a game. He needs to offer sufficient output. And the only way I can see him doing it at this club moving forward is by running the water.

Maybe we need to set up a board of enquiry, some kind of process where he can have his say in a Tribunal thing.

So he feels his grievances are heard.

Then it can make findings and recommendations to make him feel better.

Chuck a few extra perks at him, a “without admissions” apology, he feels justice has been served and starts being a team player again.

In other words , put on a bit of a show to make him feel special again.

He might have a case, I don’t know, but it’s how he actually feels that is the substance isn’t it?

Let Benji in on the plan quietly so he doesn’t feel threatened or undermined.

Said that the other day.....

Facts are, Melbourne generally play you down your end
- And the Fox was quick enough to fix any hassles from overlaps or misses.
Fox is also a great talker, And knows his footy....

He also had new back rowers this year, And not all of them great...
Combined with an Injury...

I think he's a massive upgrade on anything we have in the backline,
I don't think he's near done, Though consider he may well be...
Truth is, No one knows... He might come here and go to a new level.

One thing I am sure of, He'll have a few blokes on the back foot
Both with and without the ball....

And that's more than we've been able to say about the last however many blokes in that position.
Huh,, we did have Kepoa , he actually clapped at them as they ran past… I’ve never seen anything like the inept misses that he performed while playing centre last year.. he would play tag, and then stop and spectate the rest of the play almost as if he was in awe of the play unfolding… I think I have ptsd from it… still gives me the chills ☹️🥵😳

Tommy had those long sunny holidays in defence too.

You could sense a bad game in him as he tip toed out.

We were going to get done, the only question was the degree of suffering and embarrassment occasioned.

Nothing to be done about it during our long winter.

I desperately need a good year for the Wests Tigers. Just to compete, avoid the spoon, not asking for much.

And I want the players to enjoy their footy too. That would be nice.

I’m not an advocate for nofo by any means but the last time he played well was after Madge dropped him at the start of a season. If he responds in the same manner I wouldn’t be surprised
EVERY COACH has dropped him!!

Cleary
Madge
Sheens

And every time he kicks stones - feigns injury - or just plays like a bum when he does get forced to mingle with the plebs in reserve grade!

He only tends to get re-called due to natural attrition when others get injured or royally stuff up - or we run out of viable wing options as we have been prone to do...

Sitaleki & Corey Paterson once used as a wing pairing under * Mick Potter demonstrates that point...

(* The same blow-in coach who many rated - but somehow released a world class winger in Koroibete to Melbourne because he deemed him too hard to coach! AND appalingly mismanaged the Mosese Fotuaika tragedy!)

I think you’ll find most agree here, but what are we to do with him?
He is completely over paid for what he produces, so no one else will take him on.
We can let him wallow in State Cup and take the million dollar hit, hoping he leaves on his own accord.
We can try and motivate him and get some return for our dough…
It’s a hard situation - welcome to head coaching Benji Marshal!

One thing Nofo was good for was his early set offloads … love him or hate him his tackle busting ability near the best in the league at one point

If only we could get him back to that .. but I doubt it

Yep its seems an age ago that Nofo could make big metres getting out of the danger end. The Sharks and Panthers outside backs do that job very well.
