David Nofoaluma #164

People die from cancer?
Last I heard no one died from being or not being a legend or overstating things?
My initial post still stands no matter how passionate you get or how loud you yell the word positive and if you don’t understand the meaning in what I said then I’m glad you’re not running the show.
Good one.🙄

As for a lack of understanding, I never stated they were equivalent.

And? He’s a winger. The majority of wingers try’s are assisted.
Exactly my point, if Nofoaluma had Brooks/Wakeham at HB instead of Marshall, he would score 5% of his current total, so not such a great winger.
We and Nofoaluma were lucky that, Bradman like genius, played for us!

That comment about Farah and Marshall combining for 90% of his tries is just laughable, I get people don't like Nofa, but now they are just making stuff up to put him down.
Alex Johnston probably has Cody Walker and Adam Reynolds to thank for a lot of his tries, but that gets neglected because they like AJ

It is pretty flimsy

Firstly, he's a legend of Wests Tigers and possibly our best ever winger.

I guess we will never know the truth but how he has behaved in the last 2-3 years has been appalling given the articles. Very lucky to get a $300k payout considering he had been served notices. I think the payout is Richardson's experience speaking knowing that any kind of off field distraction tickles down to players. Seems like he wants to keep WT out of the news- which I hope he succeeds in.

Always that spectacular try at Campbelltown off Benji's kick will be in WT highlights forever. Had his issues but he had a solid 3 year period where there was the safety that if he's bringing the ball out of our 20, he'll make 15+ metres.

Good luck Noffa- if you go Parra, you're a scum.

Just thinking where Noffa end up , my first thought Parra but how about the Rorters be odds on , they always take discards , promise semi final footy and pay him $ 250 k. I will be shocked if he lands elsewhere

Ah yes Adam Reynolds the one club player (he's only played with one other club so technically he's a one club player...)

Two thirds of those metres were probably running toward the eastern grandstand.

The longevity of his time at the club was a major factor in Nofa being able to build that record, along with no real talent to challenge him for his position. It's got his name next to it and few players these days remain at clubs for 10 years let alone score numerous tries, so he will probably retain it too.

Another way of looking at it is he scored so many try’s for a club that never played finals. Imagine how many he’d have scored playing for a regular top 8 or top 4 side

Bro can you write my eulogy?

I would imagine that probably 3 months ago Benji probably assessed he had a surplus of wingers and one of them was going to cost $1.05 mill over the next 2 years .As such a few months ago Nofo would have been told to look for a new club and that if he stayed he will never play 1st grade again .With no club interested in him at such a price he stayed and Maybe felt zero future so train for what ? After that it was easy to come up with the breach of contract process and save 750 k . The clubs lawyers would have the power to put the 300k and NDA agreement in front of him and it would have been take the 300k or get nothing . Not saying whos right or wrong its just the way the world works .
My observations of him on field from afar were that he looked a very disgruntled unhappy winger from the day he returned from the Storm . I think some of that was to do with being on the end of a terrible backline who never passed him the ball . He however was as bad as the rest of the backline although some like AJ were totally hopeless
So a pissed off member of any team does become corrosive on the rest
All in all well done Wests Tigers you've managed to convert a Dally M winger and WT player of the year to a despised pariah in 3 years . Also Nofo you brought it all on yourself too .
Biggest concern is a lot of the elements of that terrible backline are still there !

Come on, he played on the end of some crap backlines, how many players score 100 tries, not a lot, and he is the only one for the club to achieve this, and will be for quite some time.
Eric Grothe one of the all time great wingers, played 11 seasons on the end of probably the best backline ever, and scored 78 tries, Jason Nightingale played on the end of some pretty good backlines, won a premiership, played 70 more games than Nofa, and scored 6 more tries, are they both average too
On his day he was a good player, I’m not disputing that. You just didn’t know when he was going to decide he wanted to have a go. A true first grader has more pride.

It’s not the same and you know It. Noffa was loaned out while still contracted with us.
Ah, so it is worth arguing?

He was contracted to Melbourne, otherwise he couldn't have played. He has a player number in Melbourne, the NRL books show that he played six games for them. Up until 23/01/2024, he was a two club player.

Ergo, he is no more a one club player than Adam Reynolds.

And? He’s a winger. The majority of wingers try’s are assisted.
So.. probably best you assess wingers on alternative criteria such as when they take a dirty carry, what attitude they show up with, and how often they contribute to success. In recent years that’s a fail for our Instagram king.

Great finisher who happens to benefit from a great backline. Super consistent his whole career and a one club player. That’s where AJ pips Noff. And Noff probably has as much ability physically.
