Luke Brooks #167

Interesting, The Brooks thread has turned into the “fans attitude to Brooks “ thread. The journos are calling Brooks “the buy of the century.” The Manly fans can’t believe their good fortune.
Benji wanted Brooks to stay. What went wrong? Sheens couldn’t help, saying…’You’d think a coach should have the half he wants.’
How did we manage to stuff up this one?
I've never encountered someone going the early crow this quickly.
All this praise after a trial against a group of park footballers.
That's going off early Olympic level.

My condolences to your wife / life partner/ electrical appliance/ non gender specific garden tool. She/they must be terribly frustrated and unsatisfied.

Todd, dont tell me you didnt see it coming? As soon as Brooks started winning awards like Laurie, Offahengui, etc. you must have known his time here was on the clock?

You’re the one whose wrong mate. All those players you mention are grubs as human beings.

Matterson - Left with two years remaining on his contract for more money. Backed up later on by choosing a 3 game suspension over a 2k fine
Moses - Had a contract on the table for months, then complains afterwards he wasn’t valued, plus dogs it on the field
Aloiai - Signs with another a club a year in advance (which is fine on its own), but then does everything in his power to be sacked so he can leave early
Luciano - Woman basher

Brooks? - Played like rubbish for a decade, yet always treated the club with respect, and even now at Manly, hasn’t tried to throw the club under the bus
Lol... Who cares about their extra curricular activities we are still talking about them which is the point

Going off what I expect the Round 1 teams will be, Manly had seven players playing that I think will be in their Round 1 side.

Souths had zero players that will be in their Round 1 side.
Good for Manly. They haven’t wasted any time working on culturally underpinned teamwork and combinations. I’ll be interested to see how we approach the Christchurch visit?

Manly and Souths are a week ahead of everyone else cos they play round one a week earlier. Therefore the trial they played featuring predominantly reserve graders are the trials everyone else will play this week.

Different approaches from both teams though.

Souths picked no players likely to play for them in Round 1, whereas Manly had seven.

Might have something to do with the fact that as of the trial just past on Sunday they go.
Week one trial vs chooks, week two trial vs Broncos.
Week three game on in LV vs Bunnies.
I’d say Manly will play their strongest side next week and leave them out the following week giving their top 17 a weeks rest before the Vegas game.
Souths play their Charity Shield next week vs Dragons and take on the Chooks the following week.
Im expecting similar with Souths where trial week 2 will be the guys that aren’t travelling to the States.
Be madness to expect them to play round 1without a break after trial games.
Hence they start a week early.

Didn't Wakeham play the second half - 44 -0.
Yeah I’m surprised with the write up myself. Brooks had a hand in 3 tries as was given a rest after halftime and halftime the score was 18-6.
Humphreys got him some nice clean early ball in won of the highlights I saw as well.

Humphries was played as a 9 through some of that game
