Wests Tigers Home Ground Mega Thread

the long play is probably set the academy at CSS
Play at Accor
Hope for redevelopments at Accor down the track

Allianz and parramatta are nsw owned stadiums, if nrl redeveloped LO it would be an nrl asset. Nrl is buying pubs and hotels at cronulla stadium so why not LO
They make money. They'd never recoup the $100s of millions in the purchase and rebuild.

I guess if we have a real competive side that is in the mix most years I will go anywhere in greater Sydney to watch them. If they are cellar dewlers I will stick with kayo except the odd game.

At the end of the day, no point getting upset over what idiots like Read think. That’s just an opinion. If you are going to get upset, channel it towards Richo, because he has actual influence. He doesn’t like the place.
*in it’s current format

it gets used 83 times a year LO for events in the state it is currently in.
they get LO on a 100 year lease from the council and spend 34 million to upgrade.
if they have to purchase the ground first then the upgrade then no, but with vlandys never say never he can be a stubborn bugger

Hmmmm could it be short term (3 years) at Accor whilst CSS is redeveloped into a modern boutique stadium (30,000). CSS becomes long-term home with Leichhardt given 2 games for year.

How are they getting 34mill back? Your putting too much hope on a throw away line from VLandys.

don't know if CSS gets the funding, LO fits the bill for that boutique stadium if the nrl can get there hands on it

Pipe Dream.

It would be an emotional nostalgic decision, not a logical business decision.

Richo has done once, made it work. He’ll do it again, and make it work again.
It's funny. You talk about business decisions...do you know the numbers of a potential deal? I certainly don't.

Btw nostalgia isn't a bad thing. Why do we have to rip away everything that was good in favour something new and shiny?

I'd prefer to be discussing how to stay at Leichhardt rather than how to leave.

Soceroos were also training out of Leichardt, who knows they need a training base too they dont really have one in australia, perhaps they get together with nrl and work out development of Leichardt Oval. Think all options are still open

Back in the 90's in a failed experiment, The Balmain Tigers moved to Parramatta Stadium and ditched Leichhardt. ( they also changed to Sydney Tigers) One of the reasons for the move at the time was a survey that found a really high percentage of Balmain supporters drove past Parramatta to get to Leichhardt.

The average crowds were poor, although the team was absolute dog poo at the time and membership wasn't pushed like it is today.

Richo has already made it clear he moved Souths to Homebush as a vast majority of their supporters lived in the western suburbs. I don't see how this wouldn't apply to Wests Tigers too. I love Leichhardt as much as the next person, but it needs to be put in perspective. That crowd that showed up the other night was a crowd turning out to support a footy team that was flogged the week before, if this team starts to have sustained success, how many members, supporters and corporate dollars will this club turn away to play at a "spiritual home"? The biggest problem the acceptable to souths fans, but we s

club made previously was a small amount of games at multiple venues, it needs to be all bar onsets on halfwaye or two at 1 venue.$85last year at Homebush for very good seats
Couldn't agree more....we've gotta plan for what success looks like, and it's 25k + + every local derby, maybe more,at comfortably seated grounds, esily accessible, that make us most $$.....
Happy to throw the odd interstate game to Cambo to establish our new roots there,Just like odd game in country
Homebuilt experience unacceptable imo
Btw,I paid $85at Homebush last yr for very good seats on half way line for perspective, and $10 for a lite beer..and took almost 2 hrs to get home

Agree mate. We at least have to open discussion on the topic.

Both Balmain and Wests fans just let their clubs die when the league told us we needed to merge. Souths fans marched the streets, raised money and fought tooth and nail to keep their club.

I just hope our fans don't roll over on this one.

I think we don’t need either ground any more, let’s start afresh with a proper stadium.
And we know access to Accor from all over Sydney is quite easy.

Odds on that's what the future holds... People need to accept it and deal with it
If we lose a few old fans... We did in 2000, so be it... Seeyalater... There'll be plenty of new supporters watching all these great young guys we have coming thru

But they did relinquish their ground at Redfern !
