That time flew by.Well, he was last year.
He turns 23 in a couple of months.
He was a pine warmer at Dragons.Should his options elsewhere be a wake up call
He hasn’t excited me in the #7 jersey
Disappointing, he was a live wire at the Dragons
Will we still see the best of him, I don’t know
We just keep making poor decisions.Geez this place is depressing, really hard to get players to stay when we have sucked for years and are looking at a 3 peat. Only saving grace for me is Luai is coming and Richo is in charge. This clause inserted into Stephs contract would be the worst clause ever.
Stef issues aside - the St George and Bulldogs showing significant improvement has been a disaster for us in terms of retention and recruitment.
These are the clubs we compete against in the rebuild stakes and both look ahead of us while we stay camped in exactly the same place as we were last season and the one before that.
The faces may be different but it's becoming more difficult to see how we break this cycle. It's beyond frustrating and the player managers are now agitating - anyone think they are not running the game is kidding themselves. Impossible for us to get off the bottom while they negotiate with stronger clubs for their best players and the system allows the strong to monopolize the best talent.
Can clubs just sell a player’s contract to another club without the player’s approval?
I think everything is done lately to get some decent shape in our salary cap. Ice is on about $750k next year, Simpkin is on $400k, Naden is supposed to be on $400k.I have said this before ..and i know if ain’t exactly rocket science …. but the Tigers never improve their overall squad …players come and go but the overall (lack of ) talent and depth remains the same as a whole..
The Olam/ Blore swap is a classic example ….we improve the outside backs but at the cost of letting go an up and coming forward … why couldn’t Olam have been obtained whilst keeping Blore ? We let players go early all the time and never get anyone in return..
Even next year with Luia and Turuva coming… we will be down Ice and maybe Stef … spinning our wheels and staying the same as a squad whilst everyone else improves isn’t a great recipe for success …
I blame the past management of the Wests Tigers though for this situation .. more than the Player Agents … although I dont understand the call to let Ice go… I’m hoping that he will be replaced with a player of similar skill and experience… seems unlikely though …

It beggars belief that we have so many near reserve graders on $400k or thereabouts.

Blore was on 500k too rememberIm starting to take some of these figures with a grain of salt ….i just can’t believe even Pascoe could be so dumb as to throw these overpayments at some of these duds…
Supposely Penrith paid full freight on Ice … i think the $750k figure might be BS ..when he signed the figure quoted at the time was $600k a year
Would have been good if he had a long neck, he could of had his whole name tattooed on his neck. 🤣 🤣 🤣I’m not saying he should be crucified for that alone, but it just adds to the list of things that he does that proves you don’t need a long neck to be a goose.
“ Anyway, we know our coaching team are refreshed and ready for another 8 losses”Sounds like a nightmare.
I think Benji has a 5 year contract, yeh I know it doesn’t mean he’s in that job for another 3 years. Regardless, I think the club will be watching him closely. He has said the “players aren’t learning” which when translated means ‘ he and his coaching team haven’t been successful.’
For now I guess it’s a case of..the sackings will continue until morale improves? Or Richo getting Benji the players he can coach? Anyway, we know our coaching team are refreshed and ready for another 8 losses.
Benji really needs some green shoots over the next 20 games, because we haven’t improved since sacking Sheensy.
Richo has a job on his hands to change the club from being a graveyard for players and coaches. If anyone can do it it is Richo.
Low life grub.Didn’t he also king hit some random in a bar a couple of years back?
Maybe thats why they are trying to cut May all of sudden. Lets face it, if it's for all these prior discretion's then why offer him the new contract in the first place.Who is going to pay Stef overs to come to them?? Rumor is that he is going to Storm or panthers
so i say see ya and have a good career.
If they can free up 600k by sacking May, Stef's best bud Papalii just signed there and they still need to replace Fisher-Harris.Maybe thats why they are trying to cut May all of sudden. Lets face it, if it's for all these prior discretion's then why offer him the new contract in the first place.
What does the Lebanese touch do?Keep Farah, he brings the lebanese touch and that is important, BUT, also get Arthur. He would boost us.
If we are talking about someone paying overs to lure in Stef then I wouldn't look past the Dogs. Gus is very quiet anytime Stefanos situation is mentioned anywhere and he has said in the past the Dogs have $ but are just looking to spend it on forwards. I'd say he is a very good chance of getting 850 - 900k from them.Who is going to pay Stef overs to come to them?? Rumor is that he is going to Storm or panthers
