The clubs cooked

Talk about a meltdown. How many players are we missing ?? We have no luck !!!
*We got very lucky tonite... Liddle should've scored just before half time... That was a try and a 12 point turnaround when Seyfarth scored
*All clubs are missing players it's an occupational hazard

No; he gets two years minimum. I'll give it up if Richo cans Benji inside 2024.

I don't think 2024 is especially worse than the last couple of seasons. I don't think Benji is doing worse than Sheens or Madge; in fact I think he has a generally worse roster and some of his higher paid players are already mentally checked out.

What did they say tonight - Tigers have had 7 debutants already in 2024? Used 29 players already. Of those 29 only Api, Klemmer, Olam, IP, Twal and Sezer (6) have played more than 70 NRL matches and 3 of those guys were not available tonight. In the backs we've fielded 7 blokes who have played less than 10 career matches up to this week.

I don't think that's a Benji thing. I don't think Benji has a lot of time to get some results, but I think people turning on the coach is just a natural but highly subjective response to ongoing losing.

In other words, we've changed almost everything possible about the club - rosters being handily cleaned out over several seasons, brand new coach, new Board, new CEO, new Chairperson, new CoE. New focus, new plans, new strategy from the CEO. But club is still losing far too regularly. I don't think 2024 is specifically worse than previous seasons and though it isn't trending in a positive direction, I don't think the new coach has had enough time or control over the roster to be adequately judged.

So whilst I am also very depressed about the club and at a loss to find optimism and shining lights, I don't think sacking the coach is the right go. And replace him with who, Brad Arthur who just got the arse himself for a bad season? John Morris who is already the assistant coach?
Ordinarily I might agree. But the coach has zero credentials to be doing what he’s doing and we‘re getting pumped week in, week out. You don’t lose 9 in a row without the coach coming under some form of scrutiny. Especially one who has no pedigree, paid no dues and served no apprenticeship.

Weird posts here. Tigers havent won more than 4 games since 2021 and not more than 8 games since 2019, but Benji has to go because we are probably on track to win 4 games again?
I think it’s about realising we keep making the same mistakes but expecting a different result. Maybe time to take a different approach.

I don't know if a meltdown is fair; I just see passionate and disheartened fans trying to find a solution. I think sacking the coach now is the wrong solution and I think it comes from a well of desperation.

Wells of desperation typically are not great resources for effective solutions.

You just cant sack a bloke after half a season when they've come last the two seasons before he joined. What were the expectations of fans, Top 8?

Especially with some key signings in 2025.

Who will come here as replacement coach f they only get half a season to turn it around?
He shouldn't have been hired in the first place. Letting him coach is doubling down on a gamble that's not going to eventuate.

You consider playing a the highest level, winning a GF, captaining his country, Golden Boot, 19 seasons, 4 clubs, 346 FG games as no credentials?

Where does it say you have to be someone's assistant coach or go to England or coach reggies for 10 years before you become a Head Coach? Tim Sheens became the Panthers FG coach the year after he left as a player. Phil Gould became Bulldogs coach the year after he retired from Souths. I could easily name 10 highly-pedigreed assistant coaches who have failed as FG coaches.

Though 2024 it isn't trending in a positive direction, I don't think the new coach has had enough time or control over the roster to be adequately judged. CEO also has not had adequate time to make much of an impact on the club, including the roster (where he apparently wants to shed a significant number of players). Furthermore we have very clearly put many of our eggs into the 2025 basket well in advance, which may say a lot about our salary cap position for 2024 and the lack of recruitment specifically for this year.

I honestly thought our roster was better than last year. And to be fair injuries and suspensions have exposed our depth. I do agree you need a plan before you sack someone. Ie who do you replace them with?

My concern is how bad someone like stef was tonight. How can a top line professional player make so little effort? Regardless if he’s signing elsewhere.

After a week off we were less resilient. I don’t think that’s a coincidence. There are alarm bells ringing.

Not as a coach, no. It’s like saying “this brain surgeon has performed complex, highly risky surgeries for 20 years and has amassed a ton of awards for outstanding work in his field…Why can’t he fly that 747?

It doesn’t say it anywhere. Unfortunately though, your two comparisons are over 30 years old. No one in this day and age gets a job without some form of warm up gig.

We’ve had no luck all year . The club finally has a plan . This year is a write off, not sure what anyone else was expecting. Half the team your seeing won’t even be here next year.

Calling for the coach to be sacked is a massive meltdown.

I’ve got two ideas

1) bring back sheens
Or
2) bring in a draft for fans so I can support a winning side and see how it feels

Baring that I’m going to book a trip to Fiji, I hear it’s a great place to get away from all your troubles

I agree

Benji is not going to get us there. Time to face facts. Clean the roster out another five times, nothing is going to change.

I have no idea what the answer is but fundamentally the club is doomed. Every team goes through ups and downs but not us. 13 years without semis is absolutely laughable and if anyone thinks it will change next year they are off with the fairies.

Our position now only justifies the broom they put through the joint. You expected it to be fixed in 2 months 😂
