The clubs cooked

That's what I mean by doubling down on your mistake. I think everyone knows Benji is not right, he can't be. He cannot possibly be good enough to handle this. There are a few good coaches on the market right now who have done a good apprenticeship in Ryles, Hannay and obviously Arthur. 2025 may be a different story.

People just need to swallow their pride. Admit that the mistake was made and rectify it rather than waiting for stupid bureaucracy or waiting for a "good look". Make the tough call FFS.
Ah just want to point out to you that Brad Arthur was literally just sacked for failing to deliver as head coach, and Josh Hannay has an all-time coaching record of 11 wins 19 losses.

Pascoe is finally gone, you are right. But you know what, at the start of 2017, JT was finally gone. In 2021, Madge was finally gone. Last year Brooks was finally gone. We’re like a tape on an endless loop where we create a scapegoat, sack them and think our problems are solved. Until the next one comes along.
Arent you advocating to sack Benji though?

The way Stef is playing, his leaving will be no great loss. It doesn't look like he's trying to convince Madge to consider him for Origin. It doesn't look like he's trying, full stop. He'll be yet another player who gets all their injuries and bad habits out of their system at the Tigers before leaving for a stronger club and playing 100% better.

The club needs to not worry about paying big money for "class" - it never works out - and pick players with a big ticker who never give up, and then train them hard in the off season to be stronger, fitter and faster than WT have been in previous seasons. The team has been fading at the end of halves and games for years now. Also need a speed coach for the backline.

We have the Titans and Raiders next 2 games at home then basically top 8 sides for the rest of the year. If they lose the next 2 which is likely i cant see them winning another game this year.

Arthur delivered consistent top 8 finishes and a group that consistently responded to his call for effort and aggression. It was time for Parra to move on because 11 years is long enough to win a comp, so he failed to deliver the final frontier. IMO he has showed he can coach and keep players invested for a long period of time. That is important.

Ivan Cleary was asked once too. Wayne Bennett also.

Your arguments against the majority here are usually well thought out and hard to argue against as clearly you are very intelligent. However your not making much sense at all this weekend. Your arguments, while on paper may seem to have merit, in reality lack anything of the sort.

You seem like a staunch supporter of Benji and the club. Would you say that we made the right decision in appointing Benji? Would you think that Benji's experience of 1 year as an assistant coach is a better resume than all the above?

Arthur "failing to deliver" is factual but you're just saying that to make an arguement. The guy's resume as a coach, whether as a head coach or assistant is something Benji can only dream of in 10 years.

I personally cannot think of any NRL head coach that has been successful without serving a good apprenticeship, or even had moderate success. Can you?

We never had Richo, he turned the basket case that was Souths around . Keep your head up, good things to come hopefully.

Pascoe was hopeless … the fact he lasted 8 years here as CEO blows my mind ..

He has overseen the creation of this 2024 squad…Richo only got here in January … he is going to need a bit of time to try to buy a few players to improve the team …

I don’t wanna be too hard on Richo, but he did just offer Stefano a 5 year extension at 800k a year.

I never said it was acceptable, I said I don't know what people realistically expected.

They want the coach gone because the team is just as shit as they were the past 3-4 seasons.

You know we had 2 well-credentialled experienced coaches the two years before Benji and they came back with a giant duck egg as well.

To be honest … I had expectations of 7-8 wins this year … which I thought were modest … we are no better than last year although he has had more than a year running the show now and signing off the recruitment decisions …( Sheens had checked out this time last year)

I’m not ready to give up on him ..but the scale of this rebuild is beyond a rookie coach in my view … Hope I’m wrong …

I’m not going to crucify him for that now… we have no idea what player he will turn into ..

I’m assuming you were just as critical when Pascoe signed Klemmer for 4 years at $800k.. was that a good buy in hindsight ?

I know a mate of my old man who followed the jets and never chose another club when they folded. I never understood how you could follow a sport but not a team but the last few years I've changed my mind on that.
Tbh the sport is also leaving me high and dry these days, not just my crap team. Too many changes, too much money and politics involved. It’s just not the same game anymore.

My post was encapsulating our history. I can't see the club lasting I really can't. This club is my link to my late father and even that isnt keeping here for the weekly kickings year after year.
No attack, no defence, no direction, no nothin!

Richo did get me for another member ship. He has an email with a cancellation letter coming in the morning.
The first grade club I followed in the NRL was Newtown. They were kicked out of the NRL.

For those that want Arthur as head coach need to remember he took a while to turn the ship around also. With finishes of 10th, 12th, 14th, 4th, Wooden spoon, 5th, 3rd, 6th, 4th,10th and now sacked. No doubt the guy can coach, but how about we give our guy a bit more time to make some improvements. I've seen Brad Arthur coached sides get walloped also over the years.

You are one of the few who was capable of moving on to another club and i respect you for that,i know/knew supporters from Newtown and Norths who are lost to the game after they went under.I personally could not support another club if the Tigers did not exist that is just the way i am.

Richo will right the ship but it will take time. At present, we have a weak roster largely put together by the previous administration full of reserve graders, a few promising juniors like Galvin and the Fainu boys, some veterans whose best days are well behind them, and one or two quality players like Api who put in just about every game. Followed the Magpies from the 1960's to the birth of Wests Tigers and have been a supporter ever since and a member for over 10 years. I've seen lots of dark times and this is just another one which, hopefully, we can put behind us when we get a few more class recruits like Luai through the door.

Why is everyone mistaking me for a Pascoe fan? 😅

The club was forecasting this to come Richo wrote a letter to members asking for patience and is now trying to offload most of the squad. It’s the necessary pain we have to go through. Either hang on a play valiantly and keep team unity or rip the band aid off and re create the roster.
