Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

This is the pack we could have had next year if we didn’t give in to players or just move them on

KLEMMER
Api
Stehpo
Papa
Bateman
Joe

Blore
Samuel
Pole
Twal

Laui
Galvin

Staines
Olam
Turuva
Lobb

Bula

On top of that buy one good prop and a class centre and we become a top 10 team then build for a top 6 team , I hope Richo has a couple of rabbits up his sleeves

Sometimes you have to make decisions for yourself, sometimes right or wrong without being disrespectful to your parents.
Nothing would be better for our club than having Galvin come out and say he wants to turn the joint around, he understands it’s a rebuild and it’ll take a couple of years but he’s committed to the cause. He knows there’s cavalry coming in Luai and some good youth to join the likes of Api and hopefully Stef and Bula. Unfortunately he’s getting advice from people who already think he’s a god.

As much as I hate him, Gus would have been a very smart pick up instead of Sheens second coming, in the role of GM of football operations. When you’re at or near the bottom of the heap you need a big name like Bennett or Gould to entice players to sign. Also Gould gets things done by hook or by crook.

Fingers crossed Richo is going to surprise us and land some talent on top of the two we have, but Iam not confident

Not losing Sheens would have been smarter than losing Sheens.

There HAD to be a better option than losing him all together.

Bit harsh on Richo - he has taken over the worst club in the game and in 5 months has signed Laui, Olam, Turuva. That's nothing to be sneezed at.

We all laugh at 5 year plans, rebuilds etc.

The reality is- we are YEAR 1 of the BENJI & RICHO years. It could be a 3, 5, 10 year plan- but for reality- this is still YEAR 1.

When you change coaches & management as regularly as the Tigers have done- you reset the clock every time. How this isn't understood still surprises me.

It sounds like both Benji & Richo have an idea of what they want the club to look like. So long as we don't eject either of the 2 main collaborators (Benji/Richo), then we are working toward the plan.

For a small revisit to history- Sheens came on board in 2003. After shedding players at the end of 2003, buying some guys in 2004 & again releasing more players at the end of 2004, while introducing a bunch of promising young players from our successful junior development paths.....

Well, you all know what came next.

What happens at the end of this season/beginning of next & who we see take the field from our juniors...that is the determining factors of future success. You need to pluck the weeds & grow the new fields. We are still in that process.

What is Brad Arthur’s strength?
We already have Morris in D (is that even his strength)
Is Brad an attack or defensive minded coach?
As an assistant I mean.
Brings more adult supervision - replaces Farrah who is a rookie and has our attack running last

Strong work ethic - is well known to be up at 4am.

Respect from players and rugby league community - everyone loves him.

Right now we are trying to get to the end of the season with as little collateral damage as possible - ie players wanting out, players not wanting to come.

Brad probably gives us a little bit more time before the wheels come off badly.

Perception is reality

We do not generate enough metres from our back 5 players in kick return & early sets. As a result, our forwards are getting belted & our kickers are forced to kick for field position too often, not attacking kicks.

Staines is pretty much a liability in that role.

Turuva next season helps. I think Olam is being weighed down by too much reliance on his runs individually.

If Doueihi comes back & stays fit- he helps with metres generated from the back.

There are 2 fairly low cost players off contract that could help with this. Jeral Skelton gets mentioned a lot on here & he would be one. Izaac Thompson from Souths would be another. Both are bigger bodies that can move. Not the most talented guys, not the youngest guys, but on 1-2 year deals, they are low risk with solid reward types of signings that have a PURPOSE other than just being name signings or high risk signings.

Not gonna hit the kid yet. TBH everything sounds like it’s the parents - same reason why he left & then came back, parents controlling things.

Richo making a direct comment of sitting down with him and his parents indicates it’s his parents driving this.

Hey MT, are you aware of his parents having form in this sort of stuff?

It would be a great get to have involved.

Lot of truth in your post, Chad.
My opinion is our forwards get belted because they don't run hard enough often enough.
We need both backs & forwards performing.
The argument could be made that our backs are ineffective because our forwards haven't laid the platform to give our halves time & space.
