Exercise can help a bit but honestly I find it's overstated. It helps clear your mind from negative thoughts and you get an exercise high which you feel over the rest of the day but it didn't do much for my depression/anxiety. I used to exercise a lot I would go for 1/1.5 hour bike rides every day. I completely agree, though, it should be the first thing you should try before medication, including changes to your diet.Exercise is so underrated in regards to improving mental health. I think anytime someone wants anti-depressants, a doctor should first be recommending exercise before prescribing medication.
