Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Cld u imagine what the score wld have been last nite playing the "kids" Mte have racked up a Bradman.
Our kids are mostly nowhere near ready..most will never be tbh..call it as it is
We need more experienced and committed NRL players
I thought Gus made a mistake at Dogs, but recruiting 1000 utilities ..all with the rite attitude in an achieiving culure....,,plus a few stars/has been way more successful than out invest in youth policy
Hard headed experience counts
Hes given us the blueprint
Agree 100%.
Except we have 0 squad positions to recruit into.
So we either make a call to give away all our kids to free up positions OR
We play all of them to force our mid range players to leave and look for first grade opportunity at other clubs.
Would you prefer to keep the kids or the mid guys to bring in some hard head first graders?

St George Reserve grader Tuipolotu pperforming better with 3 tries in 45 minutes than our wingers collectively all year. Why didnt someone buy him instead of Staines, Lobb etc

Couldn't disagree more. Replace the pathetic experienced players that continually let us down with kids and we compete a lot more then we currently are.

I'm over this crap talk about experience. Buying players for experience has let us down for 15 years. Experience means jack shit if the player isn't hungry.

You need hungry players with good character. Only sign someone who has something to prove and a lot to gain by busting their arse.

It's not about experience..its about ability.
The so called kids just aren't ready for nrl..many never will be tbh
They wld have been monstered by a physical Sharks team..moreso than our grown ups

The other key ingredient we are lacking is being dynamic especially in on field movements.
That explosiveness that some players possess in the NRL we have none of this.

You know who has explosiveness who is seeking an opportunity? Ethan Bullemor. This guy can be dynamic on an edge but for some reason just hasn't nailed a spot at Manly. He would be hungry and aggressive. At 24 I think he could be a real surprise packet on the cheap.

That is true, but the question is how do you get the more experienced players that have already tapped out to put a bit of effort in between now and the end of the season ?

I wanted to recruit Ethan Bullemor before he turned up in first grade at the Broncos. Instead we pick up Tuki Simpkins.
I keep reading he has a high IQ and a few degrees outside of footy and considers giving the game away to take up a corporate job.
Yet he seems to end up continuing his NRL career year by year.

He carries the ball at speed, generally plays with high energy, is very experienced and battle hardened and approaching the best years of his career as an NRL forward.
A player like him would be an astute recruit if we could somehow get him off Manly.

Kotoni Staggs is free to negotiate come November 1st, would most likely mean seeing him come in 2026. What would you say is a fair contract to offer someone like Staggs? Personally I’d say around $800,000 - $850,000 for around 3-4 years would be the most realistic. He is already currently on $750,000 so it’s pretty unlikely he’d take less unless he goes to a good club and as for age he’d be 27 or 28 by that time. Thoughts?

Too much common sense for this club

Great player, very underrated and plays with the intensity and aggression we lack.
But by the time he’s 28 it’s hard to imagine him wanting to move from a highly successful club to a club trying to dig their way off the bottom and still have the drive to give his best on a regular basis.
I suppose it is why coaches such as Bellamy and Bennett have such a big reputation as they know how to motivate and get the best out of players no matter what.

Cannot understand why all is quiet on the western front,
I know Richo & Benji said they wanted to  keep things quiet.

BUT THIS IS REDICULOUS.

We need some knowledge about anything that could give us idiot supporters some hope our future could be better than what we are living through at the moment.

And if there is no good news forthcoming Then please explain.
Are we strapped financially and simply can't afford to purchase any decent players that will be able to help Jerome Luai
Next year, Or are we looking at no other players coming to our club.

And early next season when we lose our first 7 or 8 matches the rumours will start that our one and only star wants out.

PLEASE GIVE US SOMETHING TO FEEL POSITIVE ABOUT.

Like an explanation as to what the he'll is happening at
West Tigers.

A refreshing thought, I’d think he’d want too much. All I can do is part with $750k for 3 years max and he’d spit in my face.
