I don't know why anyone would be excited about us having a 'war chest'. How many times have we had a war chest over the years and ended up with overpaid duds?

Fair enough mate, think you could be right.Respectfully…. anyone who claims they know what Stefano is doing are just flat out lying.
Stefano doesn’t even know what he wants to do hence the delay - he has multiple offers in front of him and he’s one bad injury away from getting potential offers withdrawn. So if he had his answer in his head he would sign as quickly as he can.
More an opinion that he’s gone… however I think the option of him taking his 1 year deal and waiting for Roosters/Penrith could be an option.
Yeah but the issue is that you have to spend the cap under the rules (95% I believe is the figure). We backed out of a potential deal with Nelson, which I think shows we've matured.
If we were more mature, we would have negotiated someone for issah.
Bateman $ used to front load Stefano?Announcement delayed because of continuing negotiations regarding Bateman. Once the dollars and cents are sorted with Bateman, Stef staying will be announced

Are the 2 big ones you mentioned not under contract and potentially looking elsewhere?I’ve taken a look and playing on complete hypotheticals and everything going to plan (which almost never happens) we are pretty good stead over the next few years.
We all know that salary cap management, player contracts are all done in the idea of future management. Our cap and “plan” for the next 5 years has already been sorted out. No club just completely wings a cap year in, year out. There is a strategic plan and works over years to allow the old to pass and the young to follow.
I think a perfect example we can currently use is Justin Olam. He is currently contracted until the end of 2026 and is almost perfectly coincided with the (believed) timeline in which Heamasi Makasini will be ready to take on the role. He has “reportedly” been guaranteed a debut within the next 18 months, so it would only make sense that it’d see him the following years take over.
In 2027 is when Makasini will be taking on that role unless he brains it beforehand or completely falls of a cliff. By that time he would be around 20 years old, not the 18-19 year old we’ve been so accustomed to due to fast tracking juniors to first grade.
Another one is Onitoni Large which is already currently training with the First Grade squad every now and then. I’m not to sure where he fits in not due to unavailable spots but rather his best position. He can and has played Fullback, Centre and 5/8 but is mostly considered a half. Now obviously we have an abundance of halves already in the club so where does he fit? I’m pretty confident in Galvin not playing in the halves his whole career as he’s just to big and it’s not even something you can control, as he gets older he is naturally going to put on more mass and grow into his body so it’s hard to see him maintaining such a frame.
I know people are gonna point to Jack Wighton but Jack has the distinct ability to play literally every position on the field. He has played Fullback, Wing, Centre, 5/8 and Lock. He has also most notably been called a centre by a NRL head coach in Ricky Stuart. In which I take far more acceptance in than someone random online (with all due respect of course and of which I am too a random on the internet).
It’s gonna impossible to keep all of them happy and someone here is gonna have to give but gosh what a future sight it’d be to see
1)Bula
3)Heamasi Makasini
6)Onitoni
7)Jarome Luai
9)Tallyn
11)Lachlan Galvin
13)Latu Fainu (shoutout to whoever said Latu would make a great lock, I didn’t even think of that possibility)
People are gonna put shit on this post because it’s so out of touch of reality and having the idea that something could actually go good with this club for once is so heinous. I apologise for having hope.
We can’t top up existing contracts other than pole , because all the kids who are forwards are useless , we need to buy 4 forwards if we are going to give our new 1/2 back the go forward he will needYeah but the issue is that you have to spend the cap under the rules (95% I believe is the figure).
At this stage there are not many players available, let alone players worth a big pay packet. We also have very limited spots so we would need to spend 2.5million on 3-4 players.
Even if we end up using that money to top up existing contracts to free up money at the back-end, those players will still be overpaid for that season and will only increase the quality gap between us and the rest of the competition.
🤨

Actually makes sense.Bateman $ used to front load Stefano?
Better than his brother DrueI remember that name Misty Hyman, makes me giggle every time. I know it’s childish.
I once met a bloke named Chris Peacock.
Say it faster.

I would not give him that option, sign a multi year deal or move on.Respectfully…. anyone who claims they know what Stefano is doing are just flat out lying.

Fainus as well, hope he is right againAnd Sheens...and many others
Yep I was ignoring this story for the past few days (I saw it on Facebook and it looks like one of those made up rumours) but given what I was told by my relative at their workplace it seems to be more than just a small rumour. I would love to see Ivan's reaction. I don't think Brian is someone you can replace, even though he is a winger and penrith's system is so goodOk, I’m not one to post fanciful stories about player recruitment but I've just been told by a trusted friend in Sydney( involved on the fringe of NRL) there is word that Brian Too’ from Penrith is keen to stick with his good mate Luai and come to WT next season !
No written substance to back it up but keep your eyes and ears open.

I am fearing the same. I am going to be devastated if he signs with us. We are not in the position to have $0.8m of our cap invested in Stef for five years.Doesn’t the Tigers deadline expire today …?
6 other clubs rumoured so far and Dogs only getting leaked today ?
Interesting… wonder if the Agent is still trying to squeeze more money out of the Tigers?
